Toelke pika or Fox royal crown?

I've got a decision to make.  I have an opportunity to buy a pika or fox and can't make up my mind. I will use it mostly for hunting but also may do some 3d tournaments.  Fox is 60" and pika is 54. Any opinions?

Haven't shot either.  My draw is 27 3/8" and I prefer 58" or better.  56" perhaps.  Know that probably isn't much help.

I have a 54" Pika, 50#@28 and my DL is 28.25". It's an amazing short hybrid. Quiet, fast, and one of the smoothest drawing bows I've shot. Slender limbs that make it seem petite, but it just smokes an arrow. I have a static limb recurve that's 48#@28, and the Pika draws easier and smoother than the recurve. I don't feel any finger pinch or stacking whatsoever. It's size and maneuverability make it a great hunting bow, and I would recommend it to anyone.
I haven't shot a Fox, so I'm no help there.

The pika is gonna be in many more archers hands.So your probably gonna get many more opinions on the Pika than the Royal Crown.Toelke's are very popular for good reason.I have had 7 or 8 Toelke bows.Whistler,Whips,Chinooks,Super Staitic and the Kestral.Never had the Pika.My 60 inch Whistler  was pretty close to the Pika compared to the other Toelky's I have had.I liked that bow alot.

I had a Royal Crown.It was 64 inches though.Its kinda like thier Tripple crown in a smaller package.It was a killer bow!The grip is different than the pika.The riser may have more mass weight.It shot excellant all around.Might get the nod for 3-D shooting.Still short enough to make for a manueverable high performance hunting bow.

Tough call IMO.

I haven’t shot a Pika but have a Royal Crown and it has become my favorite,  I don’t often see any Fox bows for sale and Ron has stopped taking custom orders.  Buy both and sell the one that doesn’t  fit your needs.

I have a "royal crown" can agree sweet shootin stick! Ron makes an incredible bow and great to speak to can't go wrong with that choice .I've owned a Toelke "whip" loved it but have never shot  Pika so can't speak on it's behalf but they make some great
 shooting bow's. Tough decision can't go wrong with either good luck and have fun whichever your choice.

I have a 56" Pika and am admittedly a shameless Toelke fan. That said, this bow at my 29" draw is like all the other Toelke models, smooth-drawing, fast, dead in the hand and flawlessly crafted. I would offer that I believe Dan recommends the 56" Pika if you're over a 28" draw length.

This decision just got harder. The man also has 2 Bodnik bows, one is a quick stik and one is classic hunter. He also has a Woodland hunter take down and bear Kodiak in addition to the Fox and Toelke

I feel your pain. I bought a bow from a guy, and we've since become friends. He has multiple bows he'd like to sell to me, and now I'm constantly tempted. When I tell him I don't have the money right now he tells me "don't worry, I'm not going to list them, just let me know when you're ready". I'm doomed as I have a weakness for nice bows.

Both bows are as good as it gets. My Fox Royal crown was my holy grail for several years, now I prefer my 54” Pika. It is a 50# @ 28” and I have a 27 “  draw. It feels lighter than that when pulling, and I contribute that to the very narrow limbs. Smooth as butter and light as a feather. At 72, I can’t imagine another that could be any better. You cannot go wrong with either bow.

Well, I did what jr1959 suggested and bought both. They both may end up staying at my house for awhile. Both phenomenal bows

For me it could be between a Pika and any other bow in the world and I'll take the Pika every time, whether it's 3d or deer hunting.  I've been blessed to have been able to try a lot of different bows over the past few years (not easily done for a lefty) and I've found none that I like anywhere near as well as a Toelke.  And out of Dan's bows the Pika is my favorite.  Just my opinion.

So, I got the Fox about a week before the Pika and had shot it some with old 2117 aluminum.  Last Wednesday I finally got some 600 spine for the fox and 500 spine Axis for the Pika. No doubt both are great bows. There is a IBO tournament near me this weekend, so I thought why not since you don't get a chance to be challenged like this often. I took the Fox simply because I had shot it a few more days. About all I can say is that it was a humbling day.  I just got back into shooting about a month ago and the 58# recurve I had started making my shoulder sore. That was the whole purpose of going lighter. My misses were either high or low , but the left and right were in alignment.  It is harder I think to shoot a lighter bow when your not used to the trajectory.  Certainly not the bows fault, but I am Second guessing aiming methods now.

Reducing poundage without a good amount of time to get your eye adjusted can be tough.  Give your aiming/shooting system some time to get used to the lighter bows.  Also, build back into it slowly.

No reason you can't get the same trajectory out of a lighter bow--- just adjust your arrow weight accordingly.
