New Bows for 2024
« on: May 05, 2024, 09:59:23 PM »
Am continuously interested year after year in what bows will be new for me and for others. I always look forward with much anticipation
to a new experience and like to share in the anticipation of others.

Ordered a Black Widow PLC(Carbon) w/black glass riser at the TO's TN Classic....64"s...45@28...

What 2024 new bow plans do others have?

Its been a good year for acquiring bows so far.

In addition to the Sentman in the thread above, I found a Howard Hill custom Big Five in exactly the weight, draw and length I've been looking for, at a reasonable price, and in good shape.  Its meandering its way up here as we speak, should be here this week.  We'll see if it de-thrones the Sentman.  I don't think it will, but you never know.

I'm done for the year.  Unless something magical pops up, like another Sentman ;)

Looking forward to making a few more and thinking about the design and specifications, straight bow, string follow, possibly a reverse handle.  Maybe a shorter hybrid for use in a blind .

My new (to me) bow for 2024 is a 45# 2011 Bear Kodiak Takedown. It is in excellent condition. I put copperhead limbsations on the limbs.

56" Cascade Archery Whitetail Hawk

Last year I was blessed and fortunate to get in contact with Steve Gorr, of Cascade Archery.  He has pretty much retired, but makes a few bows here and there.  To make a long story short, he made me a nice 56" Whitetail Hawk 3-piece TD recurve, with 2 sets of limbs... 50#at 30", and 58# at 30".  Steve made it with some woods and a riser configuration that he said he's never done before, so I want to take good care of it.  And with that in mind, I was thinking of my bows getting banged up on my 4-wheeler and in boats here in Alaska... so...

... About 3 weeks ago I was also fortunate enough to come across a fellow trad archer (online) in Ohio that was selling a similar 56" Whitetail Hawk with a more standard riser, 57# at 28", but with a few dings in it.  So now I have 2 interchangeable risers and 3 sets of limbs... for a bow that is pretty hard to find these days.  This is a really nice model bow, the nicest short bow I've shot that works with my draw length.  And I've got some good limbs for moose hunting, and a riser that I'm not worried about beating up in the field.

I have a Kanati build coming up this summer. Going with a 56" bow somewhere around 50lbs at my 27" draw. Green glass and not sure of the riser.

Just got a Black Widow PSR, takedown, autumn oak, shark skin grip. 58” 47#. This is such an amazing bow, dead quiet and it’s packing some 3 Rivers autumn orange 2016s exactly where I look with both vanes and feathers. It’s a great hunting bow that I’m looking forward to getting out.

Just got a 3 bow auction lot but 2 were very nice 1961 Gordon Plastics Royal Monarchs and they were loaded with years of grime but I got them all cleaned up and made feather rests, strings, puffs, and I even made some 5 line vintage looking strike plates .
One is 30# and other 35#
