Quiver keeps moving
« on: May 10, 2024, 06:37:25 PM »
I have a quick detach quiver on my BW SAX. When I shoot about 20 arrows I have to slide the quiver back to its original spot. It is the one that has a screw on cap.  Would the one with the strap be more secure.  I am looking for one that attaches to limb that does not move. Can any one help

Do you have it mounted well onto the fades?  Should have a little of the limb fade out protruding beyond the quiver mounts.  Push both quiver segments as far toward the center of the riser as they will go.  Then they shouldn't move.  I've been using Selway slip on quivers on longbows and recurves for a long, long, time and have never had a problem with them moving.

Orion and Terry, thank you for the reply. It is the Selway quick detach quiver.  I will try to mount them further up and see if that helps.  I hope this picture post

The post separates and I just push them on and screw on cap. I tried to keep it located before the limb stars, I have moved it closer in and will see if that helps.

I have one of those with the knobs that did the same thing. what i did was use a couple small pieces of double sided carpet tape and put them inside those mounts while on a hunting trip. Nothing moved after that..... But... They didn't come off the bow easily either... I switched over to the Sellway strap on and had much better luck.      Kirk

Had the same problem.  Went from that quiver to the Great Northern about 30 years ago, never regretted changing.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Thank you everyone who replied. I hope this works, if not I will have to switch quivers and go to one with a strap.

Dont be afraid to use as much force as you can to move that quiver as far down the fadeouts as possible. When you get as far as can try and move one side down a little more and then the other side.

Like said use use water and or water and some soap on the fadeouts. But also lube the rubber slot on the quiver as well to allow maximum depth when forcing it down.

I put castration bands on the limbs up against the quiver and it stopped it from sliding .

I use a slide on Selway.  I removed material from inside the quiver slot to mimic the contour of the fade.  I removed a little at a time to make sure it still fits tight. Push it on as firmly as you can.  Great quiver.   JV

My Selways are slide-ons, not the quick detach.  With the screw-on cap, once you have them in place as far up the fades as possible, can you also snug the caps tight to the side of the limbs. That would provide even more gripping power.

I have the caps as tight as they can go, I shot today and I am still having  the problem. I am going to switch to a strap, most likely the Thunderhorn Linx. I was really hoping it would work out.  I will keep working with it before switching.  I have just got back to a traditional bow and I can not put it down.  I hunted with one for around 15 years when I was younger.  I am looking forward to opening day.

I’ve never had much luck with slide on or strap on quivers. I now put quiver bushings in my bows that don’t have them. Problem solved, bolt on quivers don’t move.

I usually use a piece of bike inner tube stretched on the bow limb under the wrap-on bow quiver.  Makes a pretty tight non-skid platform.

I have the same issues as you. I still do. During shooting, I just move them back up further on the fades. I shoot a PLX.

Some of the bows are not tapered gently at the fadeouts. The get fat quick. So the selway slide on may not be very flush at the front end toward the tips.So its not as tight all the way through the rubber that you want to make contact with the limb.

I do love the slide ons.been usinfg them for 30 years.Work great on most bows. But on a couple the fit was not good and it wanted to migrate up the limb.I woulld have to push it down every now and then.

I have never used a screw on cap selway.

Question. Do you unscrew the cap all the way off or leave it a bit loose and slide it on and then tighten the cap?
