Morrison Longbow Help. Safe to shoot? How to repair?
« on: June 03, 2024, 04:24:26 PM »
Hey everyone,

I hope this post is allowed. Looking for some help. My father and I used to shoot archery quite a lot when I was younger. When he passed a few years ago he left me all of his bows. I was recently giving all the bows a once over as I'd like to head out to Cloverdale this weekend and do some shooting. As I looked over his Morrison Cougar Longbow (It was built by Bob around 2004 I believe) it looks like there's some laminate or finish that is raised off of the side where of the bow where the riser meets the limb. I've attached photos below.

Does this seem okay to string up and shoot? Or how might I go about having this repaired? I've emailed Morrison but haven't heard back.

Thanks for looking.

In the second pic looks like the Overlay is delaminating? Either way I wouldnt shoot it unless you have a bowyer look at it. Take it to cloverdale I am sure someone there can help.

I’m not seeing the issue myself…. Have a bowyer or 3 look at it at Cloverdale before shooting is a good plan.

Kirk put your spectacles on and look at the second pic. In the dark overly to the right it looks like a crack/seperation.

Ifarmer is that what youre looking at too?

Are you looking at those white lines? I thought that might be a light reflection.

My recommendation stands….

I see the crack now…. Hell… just run some CA in that crack and clamp it up. No worries….  Kirk
