Turkey Feather fletching

My first attempt at making fletching from turkey wings. Very happy with the results but got a new appreciation on why feather fletching is expensive. Cut feathers from wing, split them, grind them and cut to shape using a jig. Glad I did it one time but next year will use a company who will split and grind them on halves.

I would say, you did a great job. Next year I will not throw them out. I would love to try it myself. I might even try some wooden arrows. Wonderful looking arrows.

I love natural turkey, the feathers are usually thicker and stiffer than pen raised turkey that grow so fast , the only problem I experienced with natural with my old eyes is it’s hard to see the arrow flight or impact, but I love them and yours!!! Beautiful job

I'm working on making turkey fletching now. I split a bunch this past winter and now am finally getting around to grinding them. I did 103 feathers several days ago and you're right. I understand why they cost. I've got another 3-400 to do if I do both the left and rights. I plan on dyeing some of them as I like having bright colors so I can see the arrow.
