Mixing Thunderbird finish

Just got in some Thunderbird finish. You guys got any tips for mixing the small amounts. My gun has a 4 oz capacity. I’m thinking about starting with 1 oz each of part a & part b. My issue without even trying it yet is the amount I’ll waste trying to pour out such small quantities from the can. Anyone got any tips on my perceived problem? Syringe, some sort of small dipper? What do you got for me?

I've never used Thunderbird, but I have used measuring spoons from the dollar store for mixing small amounts of other paints for spraying.

I would suggest a table spoon. Wipe completely before dipping the second part then wipe clean with a bit of thinner Call if you have any questions.

A chemist uses a "pipette" to draw small amounts of liquid from a large container to a smaller one -- basically a length of rigid tube -- In this case, say a foot long piece of 1/2" PVC.   

Place your small container next to the jug.  Lower the tube into the jug, and when it's mostly in, put your tube-holding thumb over the open end of the tube.  Thumb pressing down, draw the liquid filled tube out of the jug, move the end to the smaller container, and then let your thumb release.

I use these 3 oz plastic Solo cups. Price tag says I got 50 for $1 when I bought them, and I bought 3 or 4 packs of them. When the T-bird can is pretty full, I just hold them with my fingers and dip them into the can. Mix them together in the peanut butter container, add thinner, and that's generally enough for the entire procedure.

I’ve always used these paint mixing cups so I can mix enough to spray 1 or 2 bows at a time using different marks on the cup. It allows you to get your ratio of material to activator correct, and if you use a reducer you can measure exactly how much.

These are reusable if cleaned after each use too.

The material I use has a 4:1 ratio of material to activator, and I have a choice of slow/medium/or Fast activator. This allows me to spray in different temperatures efficiently. But I typically use the medium year round with a heated spray booth. These type mixing cups allow very accurate mixing at different quantities.
