Opening day in NH
« on: September 15, 2024, 08:05:48 PM »
Almost hung back this morning on account of the breeze being a little dicey for a particular stand I wanted to sit,  but glad I didn’t and it worked out ok. Only about 8 yards from the base of the tree. I was only in the stand about 40 minutes….. fast food! The VPA 3 blade did a fine job with tons of blood on the ground and a 45 yrd recovery.  Used one of my Toelke Whistlers.  Love those bows!

Nice job, congrats!  I don't know why it spits out pics sideways sometimes either, but it does.

I remember in the early 80s I think reading an article about the archery success rate NH being under 2%. Idk if it’s still that low.. I was there, in the woods, driving all over this spring and never saw single deer.  Seems a fantastic accomplishment.

I can remember as well,  that back around that time NH was simply not a good place to deer hunt.  Bear and Moose yes,  but deer, not so much.   Over the past couple decades however,  southern NH specifically,  has drastically improved and I believe the numbers are on the rise.   It's not southern NY,  but we see them often.  I even see some big ones  :bigsmyl:   in the 200 lb dress weight category .....  and some very nice racks as well!
Lots of smaller farms around my way

Well done -great opening day success.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Nice job!!

On the pic if you go to edit and rotate it a full turn it stays upright. No idea why !!

That is on an ifone tho

Love vpa heads
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Awesome, congrats.

I fixed your pictures.
Cell phones take huge size pictures, trim them down to about 680 pixels and they work better.
And as Kenny said, sometimes rotating them 360 degrees then saving them works.

Congratulations!
You Done Good!
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
