How quiet is the Waldrop Pac Seat?
« on: September 26, 2024, 10:46:34 AM »
For those of you that own the Waldrop Pac Seat how quiet is it when you turn your body or shift your weight? I have a millennium swivel chair that is amazing. It is comfortable and super quiet but the pac seat is about half the weight and when packing way in on some 2-3 days pack in hunts I want something with less weight. I have tried some other lighter wight stools and seats but due to the noise/squeeks they make I don't use them anymore. Thanks!

Mine is pretty quiet but i find im stuck in that seated position when shooting,  so im 220 and twisting and turning isnt as fluid as it was when i was 160,, if a deer comes in hard right or left im nervous to try to shift. Into a position to make that shot,, i feel limited on shot coverage with the pac seat,, its very comfortable but i need to have that seat positioned in the best spot!!

Not as quiet as I had hoped. I’ve tried WD-40 and it helped. I tried baby powder which also helped but am concerned about the scent. Despite that I like my seat but because of the squeaks see it more as a coyote or gun deer seat than a trad bow hunting seat.

Im not having a squeak problem but i only used mine maybe 10 times,,, you think thin teflon or poly washers in between the metal
To metal contacts would help??  I wouldnt be using wd40
Its not a lubricant and especially baby powder in the woods.   Try olive oil
Or lithium grease,,, id get the poly washers first,,,, i used to buy the cheapest treestands and before hangin put very thin poly washers between all
The contact points and they never made a peep

I’ve had mine for 4 seasons and the only sound I’ve had came from the mesh rubbing on the frame, not the connection points.  I put some unscented silicone boot spray on the contact points and the sound went away

Good comments, mine has been good with no noise.  It is also great as a pack frame.

Mine is very quiet, especially with my Hazmore seat cushion. For any noise light lube on joints and dry lube (Teflon) on any straps that contact tubing has always worked on stands.
I went from the Millennium blind chair to the PAC seat also. I puta LWCG shoulder straps and waist belt on mine for easy carrying when I’m hauling in extra heavy cold weather clothes. The PAC seat is amazing.

I bought one before season this year and had no issues with it.  Had a small forkhorn walk past me at 10-12 yards while I was in Ohio early November.

Tip for Honest Jon. Jon baby powder and talcum powder are soap stone. For powder without scent use welders.soap stone sticks. Get the rectangular ones they will workup more powder quicker. Rub them on sandpaper and store in  small bottle. Prescription bottles.work good. I have both the old Huntmore stool and a Waldrop seat. Most squeaks are straps on metal. A dusting of soap stone in those contact areas cures the squeak.

Very quiet.

I have mine wrapped with Stealth Strips and hockey tape to deaden the frame noise.

The seat is extremely quiet for me, but then I use mine constantly...I don't remember it being loud, but mine is certainly broken in. I have killed 2 deer while sitting in it in the last month

Same here with mine. It’s not really an issue though. It’s a great seat!

I keep a small spray can of Pam handy....it takes the squeaks out of treestands or any seat, and doesn't smell like petroleum.

I have 3 pac seats and just one had a squeaky seat bar. I replaced the washers with teflon bushings, no squeaks. The only problem I had with that is I couldn’t get the seat bar as tight as I wanted so I put stainless washers on each side of the bushing to cure that issue. Melted bees wax works pretty good for connection points also. I love my pacseats, use em for everything and David is a fantastic guy! Regardless of the squeaks I think they’re worth every penny! I’m actually thinking of buying the 2.0 version!

sat in mine today. was comfortable (I added a foam pad), and stayed quiet even when I shifted my weight several times in the last hour.

Timing is everything!! Glad to see this post, was going to start one of my own...
First, I love my Pac Seat, bought it several years before the company changed hands and mine has many miles on it.
That said, I set up and sat in it yesterday in Mn. and was surprised & disappointed by the noise it produced with any movement - especially side to side. I actually had to stand when I saw deer at a distance to be sure I didn't spook them with any shifting and resulting noise. I repositioned and adjusted the seat several times but could never get it stealth-silent.
I am not sure if the noise is coming from the the frame pivot points, or the fabric on the frame stretching?
I will set this seat up in the garage & yard to try and determine what's up and I look forward to any solutions provided on this thread...
Great product, maybe just needs some work or maintenance.
Randy

would be interested to hear what you figure out. mine is brand new, so I may could learn some things to avoid those problems once I've had it a while.

Mine is very quiet, I just need to get used to being on the ground and 10 yards from deer!!! I’ve blown two opportunities at deer around 10-12 yards, I swear I was only thinking about drawing when they started the stomp!

I just bought mine this year, so it is newer.

Love this seat!

Mine has been very quiet. I did wrap some indoor/ outdoor carpet around the back where it contacts a tree if it’s leaning against one. Would sometimes get a squeak coming from there. Really like the chair.
