Well I think we need an area for the not so proud moments.
I'll start. Last week I went out on public land and after much acorn scouting found a area I deemed hot..went back and got my stand, and went up the tree with high hopes..couple hours later had a nice Lil buck cruise in. He came in from my left, and as I turned to follow his progress I found my harness getting tighter and tighter until I couldn't turn any more or draw because the tether was now around the back of my right upper arm, effectively locking me up for a draw. Then he paused politely and faced away for about 15sec..to allow me a to take in the fact that Houdini couldn't have managed the 8yd shot.. Then another day at a different spot, I started to get ready to get down from the tree, put my arrows in the quiver and then set my bow crosswise on the seat with my pack on top and started to tie my line on the bow and pack..from 10yds behind me comes this crashing noise..and the only view I could manage was bent over looking under my armpit..and there was a very impressive buck beating up the tree I'd sprayed with doe pee..and I was just about 12 or so moves from being able to take the shot when he paused and looked away at a doe entering the woods..Shall I go on? At 5 this evening I was out again near the same spot..and had a doe followed by a very nice 8point come in behind my tree..pause and begin eating acorns. I made a risky move turning 180° and pulled the move off without detection, looked down and picked a spot..the arrow flew neatly into a branch, and careened into the dirt under the buck..he hopped about 5 yds away and merely looked around..as I fumbled for another arrow..shaking like a leaf..I finally nocked it on the string and started scanning for a clear shot..Then a sound under my tree turned out to be a even larger buck..10 at least points...and I missed him too.
I'm taking tomorrow off. UnBeLieVabLe!!!
