Quiver recommendation please
« on: December 19, 2024, 04:09:58 PM »
Hi. Currently shooting a Bear Kodiak Hunter.  It's a one piece recurve.  I'm using a Selway slide-on quiver and I can't stand it any longer.  It loosens up after every 3rd or 4th shot. Looking for better options, thank you

Thunder horn linx strap on quiver. Length adjustable rod that keeps the top and bottom from sliding on the limbs. Small fry is nicely sized. I can get 3 big snuffers in it, could easily get 4 smaller heads in.

I've been using Selway quivers for years on both longbows and recurves and have never had them slip  Are you mounting it correctly?  The quiver arms should ride inside the limb fade outs, not out on the limb.  Sometimes it's pretty hard to slide them on that far, but that's where they need to be.

I’ve tried many.  My first was a Great Northern.  Liked everything about it except the stacked arrow gripper (3 across the front,  2 in the back).  Tried several others ,  made my way back to Great Northern again because they offered the inline arrow gripper.  Quiver search over.  I always get the strap models so I can move them to different bows if needed.

I have both Selway slide on quivers and a great northern quiver. I've never had the selways move on my bows. Do you have then slide down far enough on the fades? Between the two, I prefer the great northern since it is so quick and easy to swap from bow to bow. If I were to buy another quiver, it would be another great northern.

Eagle Flight Archery strap-on quiver with the totem like my EFA quiver shown. The hood on mine was made for broadheads but you can get the totem with other hoods.

Been using the Eagle Flight with totem for a lot of years now. Light weight and just works.

thanks all for the recommendations.  Will try sliding it down more, I thought I gave it a good push, but maybe there's more room to slide.

I put soapy water on the limbs so that they slide easier. Then once it's dried, the quiver is pretty well locked in place.

When you use the soap and water trick and get it down as far as you can.Go ahead and rock it back and forth while pushing it down hard farther.

I use Selway quivers on my Bear Kodiaks.  I taper the slots to better match the contour of the fades and slide them on tight with dish soap and let them dry. Maybe give it a try. You don't have much to lose at this point.

Selway makes extremely high quality products....I have  couple of their bolt on quivers, and they are perfect. But I can't believe that rubber slide on method is even a thing. If it isn't a bolt on, rubber straps are the way to go.

I've tried most of the big name quivers and have settled on Great Northern as well.  With the top and bottom piece being joined together, they really can't slide much, if at all.  Super easy on & off as well, plenty of room without being bulky.  I was actually messing around with an older bow yesterday and started putting a slide-on on it, and after trying to slide it down further into the fade-outs gave up.  30 seconds later, I had a great northern on it without having to jump through hoops or get another work-out in for the day.  The only "issue" with them is that the arrows on the inside/bow side of the quiver can be tough to get out if you need to get at them quietly, but with the 3 it holds on the outside, that has never been an issue for me.

Do yourself a HUGE solid and get on the GN site…… buy yourself an IN-LINE arrow gripper!  You’ll be smiling the second you replace your current stacked gripper.  Arrows in the back,  problem solved!  And you can get it in 5 arrow!  They are very reasonably priced too!
