Coming back
« on: December 24, 2024, 02:38:00 PM »
I hope this is allowed.

I had a stroke a couple years ago which messed up my equilibrium. I'm just now getting back to traditional shooting and hunting but I need to get a new bow and some arrows. I'd like to find one of good/decent quality which won't break the bank. I'm on disability now. Does anyone have any recommendations?

What is your  budget? New bows range from $400 to $1600 and way more.

$1600 is more than my disability for a month.

As low as possible for a decent bow. Whatever it cost, I'm going to have to save up for a few months.

Yes, that is a great and caring gesture.  Not surprising though because here on TradGang are some great folks.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Many of the senior citizens I shoot with are on fixed incomes. Fortunately there are inexpensive alternatives when it comes to bows and arrows. Their shooting may never extend beyond the indoor range but they are able to enjoy shooting. The Black Hunter bow and its clones are popular. Even the local archery stores carry them.

I only shoot outdoors, in my backyard and my woods (when I'm hunting).

F261 (EXE Scream) riser and Nika N3 limbs.  Depending on where you buy them, you will spend around $500-600 and have one of the best performing bows out there.  Shoot off the shelf or throw on a springy rest and a string and you are ready to go.  You can also save a little money if you want to pick up a used riser and limbs from the classifieds.
If money is really tight, then look at the Black Hunter Elite risers and limbs from Big Jim.
