Paying it forward-
« on: March 01, 2025, 03:38:21 PM »
Awhile back I had posted about my cancer journey. Although initially given 15 months to live, I'm going on 5 years! God, prayers and meds with a twist of being positive! The Cancer has/had robbed me of my muscle and no longer able to pull my Robertson recurve back. I purchased a bow with interchangeable limbs and started with 25lbs. Went from looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger to Pee Wee Herman because of this ugly disease. During my thread I had mentioned I had never shot a long bow.

I recieved a private message from someone in Texas whom I had never met before. He shared his experiences with recurves and long bows. In about a week, a package arrived at my house from Texas and in it was a beautiful Long bow. It was light poundage and he had moved on from it. He wanted me to have it. Well as you can imagine I was overwhelmed with gratitude and emotions. This fellow Tradganger will always be part of my hunts, even if that's in my back yard at targets.

Buying the lighter weight bow and using it built my muscle back well enough to pull the Long bow and I love it! I met an individual that has hunted with the wheels his whole life but because he was up there in age (81), felt like he wasn't strong enough. I packed up the lighter poundage limbs and riser and sent it to him. Needless to say, he was thrilled and "hooked" in the trad world now.

As the technology keeps advancing, it seems as though we are seeing more starting to want "embracing the simpler ways" again. We need to keep this passion rolling!!!

Thank you for letting me jabber! Pay it forward when we can!
