Asbell Wool St Patricks Day!
« on: March 17, 2025, 07:08:32 PM »
St Patricks Day was always a fun day for Fred and Teresa. ALWAYS, they would watch The Quiest Man. So did I. Fred and Teresa visited that area, and I have reatives from that locality. If I spoke with them on 3-17, either Fred or Teresa would always say "what time are you watching The Quiet Man?"

Last night my little neighborhood theater played the classic film, I was saddened to miss it.....but driving by and seeing the title on the marqui reminded me of Fred....prompted me to call Teresa. Neither of us have watched it yet today. I am not sure if we will.

It is not lost on me the "quiet" as it relates to everything Fred did. Quiet in demeanor. Quiet strength. Quiet in the woods.

Teresa has a great St Patricks day sale.....so check out her version of "quiet strength"....WOOL.

Wishing that were true Roger. Still waiting on an unfilled order of mine from last July. Luck of the Irish, even on this day, appears to hold no hope.

Agreed! It's unfortunate to have to use #5 on this. Much rather be reading posts and learning. Some may call it a complaint, but unless 8 or 9 months lead time is normal for a jacket that was promised in 2 weeks, followed by empty promises on the phone, why, a little business etiquette constructive criticism just might be due. She has my name, phone number and order. Talked to her a couple of times now... says she'll get to it.

I have asked you politely to send me the details to my personal email, and I would help resolve the issue. You haven't done that. Now you are hijacking my thread.

Well well well it's awesome when I dig a little and find out the truth. You were rude enough to post your BS here, so allow me to respond with facts.

You never placed an order. You never spent a dime. What you did was hand a note to one of Teresa's booth helpers at ETAR, listing a complicated custom jacket and water bottle combo and you wrote in your own(discounted) show price

Later you called Teresa, and you were so rude that she said to consider the order canceled, that she didn't want to work with you on anything custom. You then shifted gears and pleaded with her to do it. She asked you for a credit card, and you told her that your Dad was paying, and that she could call him.

That's not how Teresa does business.....but she did call....got a voicemail, and never heard from your "Dad".

So here is the final answer:

Your fictional order does not exist. You paid no money. You are either a liar or a scammer, and you are banned from buying ANYTHING from Asbell Wool or Traditional Woodsman in the future.

Other than that, have a great day.

Interesting turn of events. Her recollection, and your conveyance of the history and notably, the last phone call isn't quite reality. Thankfully, knowing enough to have written documentation and recorded audio of what was said when things start going sideways has saved me in the past, so glad to have it here. Teresa, face to face personally wrote specifics of the order on a slip of paper she had. And by specifics, it wasn't very complicated.. a 2" shorter sleeve for my jacket, and whatever sort of piece of fabric she could stitch to the inside jacket of my dad's saying "Custom made for...". And SHE wrote down that she'd honor the show price.

After leaving several voicemails and sending text messages, when I finally did get her on the phone after calling and being sent right to voicemail but then texted her asking how to order and surprisingly my phone rings, I simply asked to understand the status with the order and why messages were going unanswered. "I'm very busy, I'll get to it" is all I got. She said she had questions about the custom label my dad wanted. I told her to call him.

Thank you for checking into it and confirming our suspicions. And fear not, neither of you will have to worry about any future orders coming your way. Apologies for hijacking your thread.

I have always found Mrs. Asbell to be sweet as pie and very accommodating to her customers. I have seen customers get impatient during the summer season when the Asbells were making their rounds at the various shoots and shows and consequently weren't home to send something out. I really like Asbell wool products and am looking forward to a new Pathfinder this year it seems mine has suffered some closet shrinkage  :goldtooth:. I keep looking at the Northwoods anorak. Thanks Teresa for excellent products.

Closet shrinkage or stomach growage?

Could get Theresa to cut out the kangaroo pockets and install a spandex patch for future expansion issues.

Now that I know the whole story, and the only reason for registering and posting here all 5 times was for grievance against a longtime Sponsor, here's my response.  AND sent me a rude email.

Has someone predicted earlier they thought that the Canoe coat would be our most popular item.  After wearing it in Texas earlier this year and the reaction that my wife has, I have to tend to agree.

You can have a one directional zipper or a dual directional zipper.  You also can have a drawstring  for your hood if you like. You just simply request either or both when placing your order.

Canoe coat yesterday afternoon....

Can’t speak for other’s experience but both Roger and Theresa have been very good to deal with. I would have no qualms about ordering from either one. I thought about ordering another anorak but the one I have has served me well for about ten years now and is still very serviceable.
