I used to shoot split finger recurve when I was younger (about 23 years ago) and it seemed fairly easy I recently decided to pick it back up and really dig back into it initially for target practice with the goal of hunting.
I'm now good with 3 under and can hunt 3 under confidently but am having serious problems getting consistency with split finger for the longer shots (25yd-30yd max w/current bow) and wont hunt split finger due to that.
My current equipment is a 1966 Black Hawk Warrior (LH) 47# @28" (my LOD is 27.9") bow length 66". I also shoot off the shelf and would prefer to continue to.
I have put 29", 400 spine, 4" turkey feather, right helical fletched carbon arrows (125 grain FP**) through it and 30", 500 spine, 4" turkey feather straight fletched carbon arrows (125** grain FP) through it as well. Thought my arrow spine might have been some of the issue but don't see much of a difference/improvement.
Sorry if there is too much information, figured it might eliminate some common issues/fix suggestions.
Any tips/tricks/adjustment ideas/help would be greatly appreciated. for those that read this far I appreciate your time.
** Edited FP weight from 100gr to 125gr. was thinking about wrong bow when trying to remember the arrow set up. **
