very WIERD carp
« on: May 31, 2008, 07:28:00 AM »
I was bowfishing with Baretraks yesterday and shot this extremely strange looking carp.  Here are pics of the carp by itself, and with a normal carp.  Any ideas on what it is?

I have seen this on a few carp also.  Maybe some kind of genetic thing with the scales?

Mirrored carp. There are a few around. From what I've read they usually stay deeper than other carp. Cool looking fish. Michael

Definately a Mirrored carp. We have a local lake that's full of them. Body is only partially covered with scales. Ours are more gray in color but I'm sure that's what you have.

i was told by a sales person, when purchasing an out-of-date newpaper that it was out-of-date...

i told her "i've been told i'm out-of-date, too"...

does that mean i'm up-to-date?

Just got back from the zoo in Berlin and saw something like it there. Told my buddy that it looked like a messed up carp.

I have informally been keeping track of these Mirror Carp that I get here in Washington and have determined that about 5% are this kind.  Their patchy and irregular scales give them a rather unique appearance.  As far as table fare, they taste like crap...I mean carp.
