another poc foc question
«

This one should be simple, but can I get an estimate of the weight up front needed to get 18-20% foc on a 23/64 tapered cedar shaft?
thanks

For most POC shafts you're going to need at least 250 grains up front to make it, possibly more depending on your shaft weight, but the rear tapering should help.
For the average weight shafts I've experimented with (360 grains raw) I need over 300 up front to crack 20%, but those are parallel shafts. If I recall 250 on those gave me around 18%.

For my wood arrows I like to keep my FOC at 8-12%.High FOC seems to work well for carbons, but I'm not convinced that it works well with wood.

Slomo: What kind of head do you have that's 250-300 grains? I have to tap and insert about 2 1/2 inches of 3/16 steel rod and cap that with a 160 grain head to get about 260 grains up front which is just about 20% FOC with a tapered shaft.
