Archery related in a manner of speaking. It's 106F officially and I saw 108F in my backyard in Amarillo today. There are times when one needs to use common sense when having fun. First, lots of water and electrolyte fluids if out shooting when it's really hot. Second, it be a good idea to not leave bows strung where the sun shines on them for very long. Matter of fact probably not good on an unstrung bow to lay out in the sun too long when it's this hot. Be careful folks in the hot and remember that the temp doesn't always have to be this high if there is some humidity involved. We don't need any fellow archers down with heat problems. It can ruin a good day really fast. Trust me, I know.

Good reminder.  It seems like it's getting hot earlier but I'm gonna blame it on age and fat instead of "green-house" effect.  Either way, those of us that aren't out in it routinely can get in trouble alot quicker.  I live near a large military base and those boys fall out quite a bit in the heat.  If it can happen to a 20 y/o soldier in his prime, it can happen to you too.

Here in the UK, we have opposite worry to you in the USA - we have to be sure not to leave our bows in the direct rain, or your bow can rot!  :D

 It's tough going here at the moment, but in the opposite way. Mornings are getting down to 9 or 10 degrees Celcius, and so we have to wear trousers instead of shorts, and socks and boots instead of thongs (flip-flops, I think you know them as)! When we get out of the Toyota to begin hunting before dawn, and step into that cold, it takes a huge effort to remove the jumper that will only get uncomfortable later on! Later, the day reaches a mere 31 degrees Celcius.

I've never thought Aussies are such whimps        I would be more then glad if I could swap our 30°C for your morning temps! And of course it would not effect my wearing of shorts at all.
I just mowed the lawn. Hot, no wind and a humidity of almost 100% - terrible!

On topic: Even selfbows will not always benefit from being toasted in the parked car.

This has been the coldest, wettest winter and spring I can remember in Oregon.  I swear I havent seen the sun more than about 10 times since January.  I was up in the mountains the other day and roads are still impassible around 2500'.  In June!  Personally, I think I am ready for some global warming.

I think the hot from Texas and the cold and wet from Oregon is meeting here in Nebraska. I about ran into a tornado trying to make it to the house last night, came down right beside me on the road, did a fast turn around and headed south fast. sirens went all night, 15 inches of rain in a week floods etc etc. NOT GOOD

There was fresh snow in the hills behind my house this morning. It probably made it down to about 8000' elevation before it turned to rain.

I kn ow it is june and we had a winter storm advisory in the higher elevations.
Low was 43 last night at about 4500 ft.
I cant complain, it will be hot soon, but also real green for those antlers.

I guess I feel lucky since it is only supposed to be 99F here today...
We are still in a severe/extreme drought from last summer and it looks like another long hot summer.

The heck with that global warming business we need more cool weather!

It's so balmy here I had to stick icecubes in my skivies to go out to the mailbox yesterday. This 55 degree heat makes my nose hairs curl!!!

Darn global warming. What are those cute little Polar Bears gonna do?

Heat index is 110 degrees F today.  I think I'll put off the yard work until the morning, but I can probably still manage to shoot a few arrows this evening before dark.

I'll quit bellyaching about 93 degrees F. But dadgum, it's only June 6. This is July/August heat and humidity we've having in North GA right now.
