My son's first Turkey season - a few pics:
« on: June 04, 2008, 09:50:00 AM »
Just wanted to share:

Well, we didn't score this year but came close a few times. On the first hunt, we had one fired up and coming in fast. He was only about 30 yards and just over a null where we could not see him. Unfortunately, at the same time nature called Josh and I saw the blind being unzippered. I guess when you gotta go ya gotta go. I was back about 15 yards from the blind calling. Kids................       :biglaugh:     After that we had birds within about 40 yards but nothing would come any closer. We got out 4 times and would have been out a few more but I had one of my bi-annual sinus infections which knocked out a weekend for us. We only got completely skunked on one hunt.

Some pics:

An my personal favorite    :biglaugh:   !!!!

I killed a nice tom one day after waking up from a nap...didn't even look up at the decoy and just called.  Couldn't believe it when he spit and drummed 18 yards away from me.  Needless to say I look around after I wake up from a nap now before I call.  Took me 20 minutes to get a shot at that bird after I woke up.  Granted this was with a gun but I was in the open and didn't have much cover.

Sleeping isn't all bad...fact I think it's part of hunting if you ask me.  Granted I'd kill some more animals if I didn't check my eyelids for pinholes so often.

Looks like he had fun...I missed two this spring and didn't catch a wink.

This fall I'm going to take my kids hunting...their 4 and 6, can't wait.
