Morrison riser pic: awaiting limbs!
« on: June 12, 2008, 07:33:00 PM »
Well, I couldn't be more excited about my Morrison Cheyenne in the works.  In the interim, I thought I'd post a pic of the riser...Cocobolo and Macasser Ebony.  It will have the pine cone carving, 50 lb. foam core "B" limbs and Copperhead skins. I am new to traditional archery and, after some research, I selected Bob to make my "bow of a lifetime".  I am sure I'll buy other bows at some point, but I wanted to start with what I thought would be the best.  I hope to get proficient enough before the season starts to make an attempt with it this Fall.      :archer:

Cannot go wrong with one of Bob's Bows and that's a beauty!

Watch out for Bob!...after you buy one of his bows everytime you call him you end up with another one of his new bows or limbs...my wife cringes everytime I mention Bob Morrison's name

I cannot imagine what it would be like getting a bow like this when I started out shooting. Pick up a hobby, and here is the creme de la creme right outta the chute. Poor, poor, fella, I feel as sorry for him as I do the tyro who goes into the woods with his brand-new rifle, sets on a stump to rearrange his socks, decides to have a cigarette, and halfway through pops a twelve point nontypical (western count) for his first deer.

What is there to look forward to?

I like it!

There's no old used Ben Pearson bow for you, huh?

Now what are you going to do for an encore?

Red boar,
that bow when done will be stunning. Bob is a wonderful guy to deal with but pay close attention to what Rocky said. I think its great starting at the top. I wished I would have done that and stopped. I would be money rich and bow poor. You may think you have it all figured out when you buy one of Bob's bows and it may be a year before you touch base with him but the man is never satisfied and what becomes new will end up on your rack. Enjoy.

I understand the concern about starting too grand.  My goal was to take the equipment factor completely out of the equation...in other words, if I am shooting poorly, then it will be "all me" and not the result of having inferior equipment.  I wanted a bow that would offer/allow no excuses. I guess I expect quite a bit of myself. However, taking an animal with traditional equipment will mean a great deal to me, and it will be a trophy in my book no matter the size.  Equipment in and of itself is not the goal, I am by nature a hunter.  ;)  Does that make any sense, or is it just a convenient excuse to buy a Morrison?

I agree wholeheartedly, Red. I hate buying a tool twice because I didn't buy the good one first.  :knothead:

Fortunately, I regard bows as toys, not tools.  ;)
Killdeer~too many bows, not enough racks!

His longbows are sweet, not sure which limbs you are getting.  I get beat regularly by a Morrison shooter.. but build your first lam bow, and you won't want to buy another.  Looking pretty so far, enjoy.

Red, I did the same as you. Only my 1st bow when I started back into it was used Cheyenne. As others have said, it's addicting! Bob has a way of talking you into another one. You will love the foam cores! Awesome looking riser!

BTW-who cares about the encore when your on top    :bigsmyl:

yeah, it's alright. If I was you, I wouldn't be happy with it at all. In fact, you should just send that one to me for disposal and go ahead and order yourself a better one.   ;)
We should have shotguns for this kind of deal.

I have the same wood setup in the Shawnee, and have the foam/carbon limbs.  Don't know how it can get any better.  Don't let folks hard time you about starting out with the best.  You earned it one way or another...And you'll earn the ability to shoot it well, too.  That's got to be the prettiest piece of macassar I've seen. Best of luck with an awesome bow.   Tge  :p
