Good video!! I recognize alot of the pics from Field Notes. I love that book. Can you imagine goin' on a hunt for a month. Many of his hunts up in the Yukon and Alaska were 4 and 5 weeks out in the bush. Yeah, Man!!

Correct if I am wrong but it looks like the recurve he is using is a STATIC recurve.  A good look at the bow is when he is dragging the deer behind him.  Those sure look like static tips on that bow.

"In the wind he's still alive"

Fred Bear has been my Idol since I was a young boy, I used to watch him on Curt Gowdy's "American Sportsman". I have a few 1960's Bear recurves that I hunt with and when I carry one into the woods,I can feel Fred's Spirit beside me.
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

May The Great Spirit Guide Your Arrows..... Happy Hunting!!!

I really like listening to his "Campfire Tales" or somesuch CD, whenever I'm on a long trip on the road to a hunt. I particularly like his story of how he killed Ol' Pidgeon Toes, the grizzly bear, with his knife.

And then he says, "Now I'll tell you a true story!" He obviously had a great sense of humour!

Totally awesome!!!! Thanks for the heads up VA Bowbender! While there are some things about the "whackmaster", ie. Uncle Ted, I don't enjoy that song is certainly not one of them!!! Cool song and great video !!!  :clapper:    :clapper:    :clapper:
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.
