It's a recurve that the tips don't uncurl during draw.

That is one of the electrical ones. Ask Van in Texas, he builds a lot of stuff that you plug in. The static type, as opposed to a plug-in, though, is portable. The limbs are encased in plastic, and you shuffle your feet on the carpet to charge it up before hunting. The limbs then hold the static charge, and a lot of lint for dampening glare.

Make sure that someone gets the door for you, as you can lose the charge on a metal doorknob.

Does rain effect how long the bow will hold a charge?

Harvey...look at sovereign archery.  Do a google search for static tip recurves & belcher bows? has a picture that explains it much better than we have.....

Basically, RH Clark has it.  There was a very good explanation on static tips posted a few months ago.  The advantage is that the tips act as levers giving a easier draw and imparts more energy into the arrow compared to a working recurve of the same draw weight.  There are a few bowyers that make them such as Sovereign (I have 2 of his) and I believe Sheepeater, Horne and possibly RER have bows with static tips.  Hope this helps a little.

Don't forget that by controlling the tip angle, the angle of the string to the bow can be controlled.....just like them horse bows.
