Shrew Classic Hunter ?
« on: June 22, 2008, 09:36:00 PM »
I would like opinions on the 52" or 54" Classic Hunter compared to the longer Shrew models.Stability.I like 60" bows but do most of my whitetail hunting out of pop-up tent blinds. And thought the shorter bow will give me more clearance in the blind.I talked to Gregg Coffey a few days ago and my bow will be built sometime in July,I'm Just undecided on what Model and length to get. Thanks for all the advice.

Well Dave Have I got the news for you. I just got back from Comptons an hour ago and I shot ALL the so called top bows there. Seond place was a tie. Black Widows PSR in 54in and Bob Morrisons foam filled limb in 54in. First place was a blow out for me and it was the 54in Shrew Classic. I have a 56in Super Shrew, but the Shrew Classic has a completly diffrent to me. Talk about sweet. The draw feels like a lot less weight than my other bows but is about 3 #"s more. The bow is rock solid when you release the arrow and very stable. Other short bows I have shot were wanted to rock left or right in my wrist. This bow points right where your looking with no wobble. It is the perfect bow. My friend shot it also and pulls about 29in. He thought the exact same things I did. I did not shoot the 52in model because it was love at first sight. The perfect hunting tool. Comparing prices on new bows the Classic Hunter is a steal of a deal. By the way Greg had a maple burl wood that was beautiful. After talking to Ron he showed me the Classic limbs were a diffrent than the Super Shrew limbs. Can't say enough good about it, so I brought it home. My wife even said buy it. LOL

I was comfortable with a 52" Classic Hunter at 29.5" draw length.  I would go with either one.

OK, what can you tell me about carbon limbs?  How are they better?  I wonder if it's too late to change my order...

I did not get to shoot a carbon Shrew.  To me every carbon limb bow I have shot has a twang sound to it. I know they have been putting it in Olympic bows for years but I just prefer good ol wood. Its just a personal prefrence for me. I just came in from shooting my Classic Shrew and would not change a thing in it myself. What a quality bow.Come on Oct.1

The Classic Hunter shoots better then any bow I have ever owned.  It's every bit as good as what has been mentioned and then some. You can't believe it until you shoot one for yourself.
