I do it just like wingshooting, ya swing with them and than swing past all in one motion and let it fly. Ask one of the professionals like RU on this site. I watched him yesterday make an incredible running shot at 12 yards, bunny flat out and Ru rolled him over!! Shawn

I like to shoot them sitting then make up a good story about how fast it was going when i shot it.   :bigsmyl:

Hit a running rabbit. Does the term Hail Mary mean anything to you.
Where I hunt rabbits there are a lot of alders and other brush so hitting a sitting rabbit is hard enough, running is hardly thinkable(probably not even a real word LOL)

Just like wingshooting with your shotgun......the swing is how you hit them. You just have to learn your lead.

Check out how much lead there is on this shot. It was a good hit you can see the arrow is half way there and it is still way out front. I was maybe 15 yards away.

Sorry Charlie, you can tell two things:
1) few of us really have an educated answer to your question;
2) bunny hunting with friends is so much fun it should be illegal.
I think JBiorn knows what he's talking about. As for me, I hit them like Stone Knife.

BUFF,
i wish hunting was as easy for me in sandy valley,
the rabbits are so skittish, they run at the first sign of predetor  as far as 60 yards away,

we flush'em out by skippen rocks around the area and have the buggers run out of their pit, rocks is the way to go for were i hunt,

nothin else, we used a dog but he always crosses our sight window!!

After my first day of hunting rabbits with a bow and shooting one on the dead run at 25 yards, I consider myself somewhat of an expert at this matter.

Here is how you do it.

Step 1) Rabbit gets up and runs like hell to get away from the middle-aged over-weight so called predator.

Step 2) Draw bow back.

Step 3)close both eyes (note- it doesn't matter what your dominate eye is, so long as both are closed)

Step 4) release the arrow aiming somwhat in the vicinity of the escaping rabbit

Step 5) This is important, Yell "HOLY %$#! I hit him" after you open both eyes and realize the rabbit actually ran into your poorly aimed arrow.

This worked for me. Well, at least once out of the 40 shots I took. Heck I may just write a book on this subject. Maybe I could get some sponsers and start my own TV show.

I haven't a clue how you guys even get a good group at 30 yards yet, much less shooting at bouncing cruise missles like rabbits! But it sure sounds like a hoot to try. I can't wait till Goose hunting opens again next year. I'm going to build a bunch of those Foo-foo arrows, or what ever they call them and have me a ball!!! I'm going to have arrows sticking up all over the back pasture.....Hopefully a few goose feathers fling too!
