New RER XR
« on: June 27, 2008, 08:04:00 PM »
I spoke to Kevin last night and he is gluing up my new XR recurve. It is gonna be sweet, he is doing something a little different with the riser and shaping it more like my Arroyo. It is gonna be Purpleheart and Leopardwood with a special flare and have a boo core with Curly Bubinga veneers, 58"s and 52#s or so at 28"s. I should have it by the end of July. I hope to shoot it at this years Muzzy. Shawn

Shawn, right before Golden Hawk passed I spoke to him about his new one. It had 2 sets of limbs,Longbow and Recurve. He couldn't say enough good things about it.He was really impressed with it. I even think he posted a thread when he received it. Congrats on yours. I'll be looking for the pictures and the report when you get yours.

That should make for a stunning looking bow Shawn.  Kevin does a great job.

Just to give you something to look at while you wait for yours, here are pics of my new LX that I just picked up earlier this month.  Coco and osage, with frogskin alder lams.  I'm loving it!

That's a looker Joe. Hope your happy though, I think you just pushed me over the edge on finalizing my LX order;)
I think I may head to the Rib Mountain Bowman 3D shoot in August and do some fine tuning of the woods on my bow though?
Congrats to all on fine looking bows.

Joe, that sure is sweet. I have had 3 custom bows made with the Osage and coco risers. They are about my favorite but I wanted to try something that was real dark with a subtle contrast. How does she shoot? I know they smoke and are very quiet bows, now I really can't wait!! Shawn

Shawn, it shoots like a dream.  I had a bear hunt right after I picked it up in early June and didn't want to mess with a new bow until after the hunt was over.  But since I've been back I've been shooting this thing every chance I get and liking it more every time I touch it.

This one's a keeper!

Well, I went and did it. Finalize my LX order, even upgraded to the LXR model. I wish I had a stronger will. Whip, your bow pushed be beyond my tolerance and I had to place the order. Hope mine turns out as nice as yours.

I bought a RER LX a few months ago, and I am very impressed with the bow. Its a pleasure to shoot and it actually outperformed another top brand longbow with the same specs so I am very happy with it.
My question is; what is the difference when you make it a LXR by putting on recurve limbs? It will look different and you can probably use shorter bow, but apart from that?

What is the difference between the LX and the LXR?

Thank you

The LX is the longbow design. The XR is a 50's style riser. The LXR is a riser that allows you to interchange longbow and recurve limbs. I like the looks of the LXR riser. Does the grip have a large palm swell?

Maybe Rod Jenkins can add to this thread. I shot his LX at the ATAR. I came home and ordered one. To say the least I was impressed. I believe that Rod had a lot of input into the LX grip design. Man it fits my hand well.

My hand melts into the standard grip like butter - it has a nice palm swell that is just perfect for me.  But if you'd like something different custom orders can be made any way you want them.
