Morrison Cheyenne with longbow limbs??

Has anybody in the "Know" heard how long it will be or if Bob is going to try this combo out. I am looking to buy a bow soon and was looking hard at a Shawnee with Foam core Dakota limbs but I would rather wait for the Cheyenne riser if he is in the process.

I doubt he'll do something like that. The limb beds have too much angle to them for longbow limbs. That's why he came up with the Shawnee riser to accept longbow limbs. Can put recurve limbs on the Shawnee, but doubtful that longbow limbs would work on the Cheyenne riser.

One phone call to Bob will give you the exact and why/why not. My guess would also be no go because of what Orion has mentioned above. I love my Shawnee's thats for sure.

I heard from some guys on here that he was goin to be trying it out. It wasnt with the dakota limbs but he was making a longbow limb for the cheyenne. I hate to call a busy guy just to ask a question if I can get it here from someone who already knows. I cant imagine how busy he is building bows and phone questions start to add up. Thats why I wanted to try here first. I might end up calling him if noone knows for sure.

A PM or email would let him get to the question when he has time. Just a thought.

I just got my set of ILF longbow limbs from Bob. He did at one time mention the possibility of longbow limbs for the Cheyenne, but he would need to tweak the limb butts, as he had to for the ILF riser. I wouldn't say there is much that is out of the scope of his ability and talent, though.

I have spoken awhile ago about this with Bob. The limb pad angle is not a problem. The ILF riser and the Cheyenne share the same limb pad angle. Bob is aready make the ILF longbow limbs. He told me he just had to change the limb wedge configuration. He said he had also had many request for longbow limbs for the Cheyenne, and was thinking about offering them. For the guy that don't want to wait, you can pick up the ILF riser with recurve or longbow limbs now. This riser has almost the same geometry as the Cheyenne.

I see he is making a short ILF riser now too. I didnt even know he was making ILF longbow limbs. That will only make my decision harder!!! LOL

I have talked to Bob several times about this subject and bowhunterinchile is absolutely correct. The problem is Bob finding time to actually prototype and test a new limb design when he is having trouble making all the other models fast enough to keep up with sales. Bob shoots an ILF model himself at this point and really likes the design. He says the ILF gives him much more flexibility in adjusting the bow and is still pretty much dirt simple, the main difference being a rocker pin and a slotted limb-bolt hole. This makes the bow a little harder to stow when unstrung unless the limb-bolt is fully tightened but makes it much easier to take down if the bolt is not tightened down all the way. The bow can be easily adjusted for weight and tiller, which can be a big advantage for many people. The biggest problem for some trad shooters is that there is one small mechanical adjustment in it and that may not make it sufficiently traditional. I am still pondering whether to get one myself. I sure do like Bob's bows.

Bob doesn't work anymore, Barb builds all his bows. I guess I let the cat out of the bag. Sorry Bob. LOL

Thought I would bump this post up due to what I just read on the Morrison site. Bob is now offering a longbow limb for the Cheyenne. It is in the news section of his site. Guess I gotta sell a few things and order a set. Hey Bob, if you need a field tester I am offering the service for free.

I just found it, it looks great. Very interesteing using the ILF type limb wedge. This is a great addition to the Morrison line up!!

I stand corrected. Never say never, or even unlikely, in Bob's case.
