Pigs in the bayou
«

I don't get to hunt much these days but I did finally get to go out and chase some pigs this weekend.
I saw this pig bed up in a thicket and was able to stalk in for a shot. After a brief trip up a tree then climbing down and emptying my quiver, I was able to get him. Biggest pig I've killed with a bow. I thought the pig looked hurt when I saw him bed down and when we started skinning him found that he had a nasty infected-wound on the inside of his back leg. There was an MD present and he advised against eating any of the meat so I just got pictures and the thrill of being within spitin' distance of mad pig...some good sized cutters too.

HEY !
All you guys from Louisiana. I'm in Bastrop,La.
Northeast corner just above Monroe. I'm just taking up traditional archery and I love it.I've hunted for years with a compound but there is no comparison between the two. I was wondering about clubs, shoots, or gatherings ya'll might know about. I need a lot of direction from folks that's been doing this for awhile.
THANKS !

Kip, We were just outside of Zwolle..North Louisiana.
Archer2, the Lousiana Traditional Bowmen North vs. South shoot is March 17/18 weekend at the Mountain Bayou scout Ranch just outside Ville Platte and the Sterling Harrell Trad shoot is April 28/29 at the same location.
Go to the LTB website for details:
LTB Website
There is a club in Columbia just south of you that has had an all trad shoot the last couple of years too.

Here's another picture...I'm behind him a little so you get the "chuck adams" effect but he's still a good size pig. We didn't have scales but four of us drug him out and it wasn't easy.

I don't see any camo on those cutters so I guess you climbed fast enough. Nice looking hog.
