I normally hunt without camo, except when I'm standing in the water next to a pin oak in the bottoms waiting on ducks.

Stone Knife, what brand is that jacket? Did you get it mail order?

The biggest problem I have with non-camo hunting clothes is finding a good fit. I am a pretty tall guy with a little more than my fair share of girth. I can find quite a bit of good quality camo gear in 3XL-Tall, but not much in the way of wool plaids and such. I have found a few, but not much.

I don't really care what color it is (within reason of course). I want it to fit well, function properly, last a long time and not break the bank (don't want much, do I?).

I have made quite a bit of my hunting clothes (fleece pull-overs, wool hunting shirts, etc.). Maybe the next evolution of this deal is to only hunt in "made yourself clothes".

OkKeith

Mine is made by Johnson's Woolen Mills in Vermont.

It's the same coat the Benoit's "used" to wear.....

I am gonna go both ways!!   :scared:   I am gonna wear non-camo half the days I hunt and my full fledge stuff the other half. It may not be scientific but this way I will see which brings better results. I have some nice Woolrich stuff and some Filson as well, plus some other no name stuff. I am gonna use burnt cork to blacken my face and hands as well. Opening day will see me in green plaid and a boonie hat with my  burnt cork camo. Shawn

Curt Chuck means commercially produced stuff specifically called camo. I believe. I agree though as burnt cork is a form of camo, just as the Native Americans used ashes or soot. By the way I will all ya soon! Shawn

I wear what is clean and on top.  Really hard to beat camo hunting pants though, cuz of the 6 pocket design.  Do like my green Woolrich shirts when it gets cooler....of course that is around Christmas in Georgia.  Have to count me out on this one.

Never did wear it much.I wear an old 1960's Filson olive drab coat and blue jeans 99% of the time.Works great for me.I just try my best to not move when critters are near. But I would like to add one note to your thread about camo.Several years ago while on a hunting trip with another friend whom does not wear camo.We stopped to get some grub. While standing at the cash register waiting to pay for our meal(not wearing camo). There happen to be about 4-5 fellows wearing camo ahead of us in line.Kind of like one of those hunting show type guy's.All wearing the same camo same boots same hats same pattern on everything on all of them.I'am certin they were headed to the bush to hunt. They were somewhat intoxacated though or as I would like to say a couple of them were walking on thier lips. They were hosed...The lady behind the cash reg says to her friend and or co-worker.Wow drunks everywhere should have to wear camo......It just struck me a little odd at the time. Two things for sure that night.Glad I was not hosed and glad I was not wearing camo...bowdoc

I have cotton ASAT camo which I wear in September during the early season. That said, most of my hunting takes place during the November/December late season, and I own no warm camo appropriate for that time of year. Instead I wear green wool pants, and depending on weather, a combination of a wool jacshirt, camp shirt, or vest in the pattern above.
