Can anyone recommend some public land in MD for Sikas? I am not gonna be able to travel for whitetails this year, so I figure I might wanna try a little side trip for the little elk. Its not that far of drive and I've always wanted to hunt for sikas. Any info and other tips will be much appreciated!!

Dave,
I have not hunted them before, but was thinking it might be cool. I was checking out a fairly inexpensive outfitter that I talked with at the outdoor show in Harrisburg, PA in February. They are at

Thanks Stinger I was looking into Muddy Marsh also. Even though it is a great deal, I think DIY might work a bit better for me this year. Money is tight and i gotta save every bit I can. So I was figuring on doin some camping/hunting. Probably live on ramen noodles...lol
PS Thanks for the link SouthMD

DIY for little elk is something I've been wanting to do. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

You can purchase an archery permit for Blackwater NWR for $20 which can be bought at the visitors center. Blackwater has split seasons with the 1st archery season running from Sept 27 to Oct 15. The 2nd season is from Oct 27 to Nov 15, and the late season is from Jan 17 to Jan 31.
Taylor's Island has a campground that is extremely reasonable in price and is only a few miles to prime Sika hunting in Blackwater.

As Ghostman stated above, Blackwater NWR is the place to look at for an inexpensive (but good) hunt. The Hunt Coordinator for Blackwater is Allen Johnston and you can contact him at (410) 228-5018. His office is in the Visitors Center. Leave a message that you want information on the archery hunts and he'll return your call. $20 is hard to beat. There are campgrounds close by and he should have infomation for those as well.

Fishing Bay Wildlife Management area and several thousand acres of Chesapeake Forest Lands (MDDNR) have oodles of Sika deer too. Most outfitters will put you over a bait pile or on a trail leading to a feeder. DIY is very doable if you are willing to dedicate a few days to it. The rut occurs the second and third week of October. The week leading to the early muzzleloader is the best week in my opinion.
