MOAB Owners, tell me about your bows.
« on: July 17, 2008, 01:05:00 PM »
I just traded a takedown recurve for a MOAB and was interested in what guys have to say about them.  I don't have the bow yet but will Saturday or Monday.  George

George,
I bought one at last years WV Trad/Prim Expo from Jim Reynolds and I love it. It is the best "Hybrid  Longbow" I 've ever got my hands on!It's 60 long, 54 lbs. @28"draw and very smooth. It's fast ,and foregiving and I shoot it as well as any of my recurves.  Shot a doe with it Oct. 31st, '07 with a 565 grain gold tip with a W.W broadhead (prob. more info then you wanted)I can send  photos is you're interested.

Look for my recent post "Pics of my new Thunder Stick MOAB". I have two Thunder Sticks; a MOAB and a Mag - both are awesome bows!

Thanks Darren....I did check them out.  The one I'm getting is 62",  53@28.   Someone here at tradgang sold or traded it to bowgramps, and I'm trading him for it.  He wasn't sure what the woods were in the bow but did say it had antler overlays.

George, if I wasn't shooting a Super Shrew, it would be a MOAB. Great bow and top notch bowyer too boot.

George I have a Thunderstick Mag and I love it. I hear that the MOAB is a little fancier but I'vr heard nothing but good things about them.

I have a number of Jim's Bows, 2 Thunderstick Mags, a Ramhorn and a MOAB. They are all great bows from a fine Bowyer but I'd have to say the Moab is my favorite.

That's a beauty, George!  I shot one at the UBM banquet earlier this year.  I think you'll really like the way they shoot.  My impression was "smooth and fast."

George,
There may be a misunderstanding. I sent you the above photos of my bow  with quilted maple limbs laying on quiver, not "bowgramps".
