I have owned and shot most every high end recurve and three piece longbow out there,no joke,For me, The Brack Quest is my go to bow, but my new Cari-Bow Taiga is right there with it as is my Custom Blacktail and my Charlie Lamb Sunbear. Pick one and shoot it well.

My vote for best would have to be for the Black Widows. My vote for the best-bang-for-your-buck bow is gonna have to be for the Pittsley Predators, including the ones that were made when Ron was at Darton. Excellent value/performance/goodlooks in a takedown bow.

What's really funny....is you have all these opinions.....and they're just that....opinions.  Only thing that matters to me is how it performs, for me.  I've only owned one (Bear Montana) and shot 3 others:  Schafer Longbow; Black Widow Recurve and a custom that a friend of mine built for himself.  What's razy is.....I liked my buddy's custom a lot.  Then the Schafer.....then my Bear Montana....then the Black Widow.  People can say whatever they wish.  I'm just telling the truth.  I have a new bow on order.....and we'll see where it fits into that list.

Wow, finally an easy one. :)  Just pick one out of a hat because every brand has it's followers and will name it on a thread like this sooner or later. They are all the best.  :D

Personally the best thing to do with any bow is shoot one first. If you can't do that stick with those that you can try ahead of time. There will be no disapointments that way.To order a bow you have never shot is like ordering a mail order bride. They will all work but might not work well with you.  :readit:

I have shot quite a few take 3 piece take downs and honestly most of the big names offer good value (if you mean "worth what you pay" and not "cheap") and quality as well as service.  Shoot as many as you can and see what feels right to you.  My wife on the other hand will tell you hands down her Striker is the best 3 piece she has ever had the pleasure of shooting, next she likes Bob Lee take downs.

James speaks the truth, best advice every time this question comes up.  I paid and waited for one of these high end bows that I never laid eyes on outside of the digital world that has been mentioned numerous times in this thread. Waited 12 months for it. Had it for a few months and sold it. Don't get me wrong the bow was what everyone is looking for, but it just had little things that I didn't like and I could tell it was always going to be collecting dust. If I would have held and shot it first I would have saved myself a lot of time.

I currently own a Morrison Cheyenne, a Shafer Silvertip, a BW PSAIII and a Whisperstik MojoStik and none of them will ever leave.

Try before you buy...Most of the top end bowyers will mail you one to try.

I have owned a few and since about 2001 I ahve never been without  3-piece morrison.  I still have an original takedown and now have a Shawnee.  2nd hand limbs are plentifull and The Morrisons are good folk to deal with.  I have had them custom ordered and used.  No problems.   Plus, they feel so good!

My experience is limited, as I have really only shot the bow I bought, and am now waiting for another set of limbs, without having to mail the riser.  As a school teacher my budget for "toys" is limited.  I found the price of the Chek-mate bows to be in the range I could afford.  I have been super happy with it.  I ordered stronger limbs because it is smooth and the 55# draw feels light and I want to try moving up in weight.  Great customer service. I am sure most of the bowyers that are sponsors here would be great to work with as I have found the members of this site to be a great group of people.  Good luck with your search.

There are a lot of good bows--It would be hard to shoot them all. I really like a Legends Bow. I think it is an outstanding buy for the money--especially his "mountain bow". He is a sponser here as well as many of the fine ones listed above. Shoot as many as you can and check out legendsbows.com. good luck with your search.
