Okay well I'm kinda new to this site and this will be my first post. I recently went on an awesome hog hunt with a few people in south carolina. I would like to thank Ray and Mike for letting us hunt down there i had a blast
Well this was actually my first "big hunt." I really havent been exposed to any other animals other than white tail, squirrels, and things like that. So this hunt was very eye - opening and educating. I had a totally different perspective on how to hunt pigs when i first got there. I quickly learned it was different, and i was unsure about things. I figured it out though.
The first day i dont think we saw anything at all. The second day, well mike was driving me and my dad to the spot to hunt. We came across hogs when we drove by. So he told us to get out and go walk up on them. Finally after sneaking up VERY slowly, i was in range of a pig. So i shot and i completely missed it! i really wasnt sure how though because i was shooting great back at camp and i wasnt nervous or anything. I believe it was because i wasnt focused on my form [which is very important for me], and i was more focused on turning that pig into sausage. Anyway, what suprised me is that they ran off, but then came right back. They continued to eat, but you could tell they were on alert. So a hog comes right in front of me and i KNEW i had it this time. My form was perfect and as soon as a i hit anchor point they all ran! I missed again! I sooooo would have nailed that thing if it didnt move. i was so amazed how fast them hogs can run. they can really go.
The last day, my dad spotted a hog. I didnt see it at all but he asked me if i wanted to shoot it. I told him no, and that i want him to shoot it. I already had 2 chances and this hunt isnt just about me. I wanted him to have a chance too. So he snuck up on it and shot n pinned it to the bank. It squealed so loud. He looked back at me and then looked at the pig and it jumped off its arrow and ran into the woods! So i walked up and we followed a very confusing blood trail until i guess the hog ran out of blood or something. Sadly, we never found it :(
Despite that it was SUPER hot and we didnt get anything i had a great time. It's a good feeling when you can go away and the people around you can make you feel right at home. That's excatly what ray and mike did.
While i was down there i managed to get a totally rad nickname: BubbaETT [you have to emphasis the 'ett' or you wont pronouce it right] Also, Mike reminded me of my friends a lot. He's cool and will def. put a smile on your face. The food i ate down there was absoluety {A M A Z I N G} Ray is SUCH a good cook! It's even better than some of the restarunts i have been to. and im NOT exagerating.
Anyway, i just want to say thanks again to Ray and Mike one more time for making my trip awesome. You guys are really great + thanks for my nickname :D
