It only took 8 YEARS!!! AZ. Archery Bull Elk tag
« on: July 25, 2008, 12:46:00 AM »
I have been soo busy at work and making bows I forgot to tell you all that it finally happened!!! I got my first archery bull elk tag here in Arizona. It only took me 8 years and that is a short time compared to others. The hunt is Sept. 12th thru the 26th. I told my wife to expect me to be gone the whole time if need be. The unit I was drawn for is 3B and there was only 75 tags for the unit. The area is about 150 miles from my house and I'm a truck driver, my route takes me right by my hunt unit so I get to scout it any time I want. I have met a few locals and have a line on a few bulls that some of them see everyday. I know the rut might and will change things but I feel good about the start I have. I'm hoping to get a bow built for myself but It's hard to find the time while making bows for my customers. I have a black widow saII. The specs are 60" 53# 28" and I'm having my arrows made by Joe Lorenzen. The arrows should be just at 600 grains. Do you guys think this set up will do the job?
Thx Bill
The only thing I love more than hunting is my kids. 6 boys one perfect little girl.

Arizona is AWESOME!  I drew a unit 6A bull tag before they split it up.. on my first try, and have been trying ever since!  You are going to love it.  Lots of people, lots of roads, but for some reason, lots and lots of elk.
