I kinda got hooked on Jack Bower's (He makes quiver's and leather stuff, solo Stalker etc.)
"Bad Ballads for Bowhunters".In particular one about a bull elk:
"Mighty Mighty Bull up on the Hill Six Point monster I see, if I do my part, and play it real smart, that mighty mighty bull will belong to me." ......... "he's still on the hill Bill!"  :biglaugh:

He has CD that he will will send you. All good campfire singing stuff. you can get in touch through Dean Torges.
PBS,KTBA,HCB,UBK

...  When thru the forest glades I wander and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur and hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze, ...How great Thou art!

Who recorded, I think it's called "Wanted" or "Dead or Alive"? It was played on the radio yesterday. Gave me that "walk to your own beat" feeling, like you get when you're hunting with a longbow!

I HUNT--- By Chad K. Slagle

There’s an old man dressed in black
He’s a holy man they say
Preaches blessing for tomorrow
But I have found them here today

He tells me Jesus is my savior
And I can be with him in time
But I’ve already met the savior
On the trail, at the end of a long hard climb

That man may miss me Sunday morning
But my temple is a grove of pine
And my altar is a cedar stump
‘Cause I HUNT

A man with years of education
And initials by his name
Looks to his prescriptions
As a way to keep them sane

He tells me I must be crazy
To hike so far into those hills
But if they knew what I’d found there
They wouldn’t need his little pills

They’d pick up a bow and arrow
And feel alive again
And have the courage
To not be numb
If they’d just HUNT

There’s a young man on the corner
Trying hard to understand
Why he doesn’t have a Daddy
To show him how to be a man

So he falls in with the wrong crowd
And he’s taught a life of crime
But he may have chose a different path
If someone just took the time

We can’t turn our backs
And simply look away
We need to take those boys
And treat them like our sons
And show them how to HUNT

I may not have all the answers
And I’m not always right
But I bet I’ll save a few before I’m done
And they’ll HUNT

I HUNT
I HUNT

I think it is one of my best, anyway...
Shoot Straight,
Chad K. Slagle

I can't believe nobody has mentioned "the second week of deercamp" and "Da Turdy Pointer" by the Yoopers.

It seems like more often than not when I drive to a hunting place "Free Bird" by Skynard comes on the radio and has become my hunting anthem. Like "Fred Bear" by the nuge as well.

They are not particularly hunting songs, but a couple of my favorites are Don Williams' Lord I hope this day is good and Bill Dance's theme song from his old show.

I guess I'll have to vote for my old country buddy Bocephus.  Here I am at Hank's place in West Tennessee.  He gave a third cannon, like the one I'm leaning on in the photo, to the "Man in Black", big John Cash.

Second Week...I second that, and My Rusty Chevrolet! T'irdy-point buck sounds too much like the audio from a film of questionable moral integrity.

After about 48 choruses of Gilligan's Island, I could go for Beethoven's Sixth. Or Yes' Close to the Edge. Music stays in the truck, but my mind conjures all kinds of stuff in the woods. Now, who's up for The Donna Reed Show?

Killdeer  :D    :wavey:
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

~Longfellow
