Thanks "Batman", you missed a good one. For the "Eagle Eye" you have to qualify by hitting a 1 1/4 inch orange dot on the side of a deer at $2.00 per shot. After that it's an eliminator where you shoot at a 3 inch dot at a distance of 15 to 20 yards. We ought to start doing something like that at local events. It's fun and a good crowd pleaser.
There were 2 previous winners in the field of about 35 qualifiers and my goal was to just to not miss the whole target on the first round in front of a crowd of what looked like about 1500 fellow archers. I was the fourth shooter and the first to hit the target. Then two other guys (who I was told were brothers) hit the dot as well). On round two one of the brothers missed, so then it was just two of us. I believe that it was the next shot that I made my one bad shot which was about 5 - 6 inches to the left. Now it was up to the other guy to win, but he missed as well. Finally, on round seven (I believe) he missed by less then an inch and it was mine.
It was sweet to shoot against these guys, and I knew when it was over that I was very fortunate. At age 64, it's something I'll always cherish. Denton Hill is a beautiful place in the middle of "God's Country" and just to be there is awesome. I felt truly blessed.
Don (Bowdoc) Ward, I'm sorry about the mix up. I have the same problem with the head thing. My wife had to help me get it into the car when we left. We gotta be related.
Slayer1, I'm going to have to get a new act. The kid (Chris) that puts on his act (at ATAR and ETAR) just added that to his routine and he does it better than I do.
