Bog Oak

Hey all,
A question to all you boyers out there. Have you ever used Bog oak over bamboo on your limbs.
I have seen this wood as a veneer on the internet. Its aged round 3000 to 5000 years old and part of its way to being fossilized. Also how thick does a veneer need to be for bow limbs?
Thanks

I had to do a Google search to even find out what bog oak is! From what I read the stuff is partially fossilized and prone to splitting when dried. That doesn't sound too promising for a bow lam.

This is what I immediately thought of when I saw the title of this thread. It's another hobbie of sorts for me - Pipe smoking and it's been a long time desire of me to one day own one of these:

I would think that bog oak has not been used for a bow lam but perhaps as decorative tips maybe?
