Ed Pitchkites!
« on: July 31, 2008, 02:53:00 PM »
I just got the most wonderful package from Ed!! His book, two audio tapes and a pencil drawing of beautiful buck on an plaque shaped like a stone point! Personal, handwritten notes a photo...
I wish I could sit and read it right now but I have bows and arrows to make while the sun shines, so I will make myself wait until later.
This is the kindest thing... I don't know what to say... A simple, "Thank You", dosn't seem enough. I guess it's a start.

Ed, gave my wife Lisa and I a copy at Cloverdale this year. I was busy at the time and only saw him as he was leaving the booth. Once we got back home and I started reading the book I wished that he had spent more time there, I never saw him the rest of the weekend. He has done a lot for our sport back when the sport wasn't as wide spread as it is now.
I feel he is a treasure we should appreciate for what he has done for us all.

I recieved a package from Ed about a week ago.....

My wife Lisa and I were on our way out,and in a rush. The package got set aside and "overlooked" (But NOT forgotten!!!!!) untill this morning.....

Inside was a letter from Ed,A beautifull poem that I will frame and hang in my "Man-Cave",a copy of Ed's book,(which I will DEFINATLY set down and read TONIGHT) 2 cassette tapes that will be put into the truck this afternoon, for my listening enjoyment.....

AND, A BEAUTIFULL glass Dreamcatcher in the shape of a knapped arrowhead and etched with an image of a "woodchuck" which to quote Ed "only seemed fitting". This Dreamcatcher will hang with honor in a place for all to see. It was given to me by one of archerys Great Pioneers, and it will be a constant reminder for me to strive every day,to be worthy to carry the torch of those who have gone before me.
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

May The Great Spirit Guide Your Arrows..... Happy Hunting!!!

I have been out of touch for so long  :banghead:  There are many pioneers of traditional archery I have no idea who they are. WE owe so much to all the pioneers of traditional archery.

Where would I be able to buy Ed's book and tapes?
I would like to learn more about Ed.

I finished Ed's book 60Years with the feathered shaft last night.  It is a entertaining read..     Amazing the memories that he has. He is a man that represents our sportvery well. He is a living treasure of knowledge. Ed I hope you get a chance at another 8pt buck this November.

I got a nice package from Ed also. Only had time to read the first couple of chapters so far. Obviously a Man who helped trad archery survive. I really like all of the drawings throughout the book.

I got "The Package" also, and the dreamcatcher hangs in my East-facing bedroom window, where the sun's first rays filter through it and into the room. My Dad was in the hospital for a week, and I have been doing the 24/7 care since he got out, so I have yet to send Ed a proper thank you. I did get time to read his book, which I want to turn around and read again. Many of his thoughts are just as I would have written my own. I have never had the honor of meeting him, but he is Kin.

He is truly an honest archer, with a great heart and an abiding love for the gifts that the Creator put here for us.

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

And so did I.
Ed even underlined certain passages that I think, he felt needed to be read twice.
Time has been a factor, and this post in no way is an appropriate way to respond to the kindness in this mans heart.
I've read the entire book but have not listened to the audios.
And before doing the tapes, I'm going to read the book again.
The book brought sobering thought and many cherished smiles.
My Fedora comes off for one of the good ones.
May you have many more Happy Birthdays MR. Ed Pritchkites.
A personal handwritten letter of thanks is truly the only appropriate response.
