It took me about 20yrs. to come around and discover this stickbow stuff! I loved bowhunting. I just had wheels on my bow!lol But when I finally found out about shooting longbows and recurves that was IT for me. Too much fun! So some of us are just not exposed to it and don't know how much fun it is. Others just don't want to deal with no sights, no let off, shorter distances, etc. That's ok. We are still all hunters!

You can't possibly attach enough stuff to a traditional bow to make it worth the sponsors interest. When you see sights, rests and releases that sell for over $100, that is where the money is.
I love to see guys on TV shooting traditional gear as long as they look like they know what they are doing. I have see a couple that think since they are such good bow shots, they might try the recurve for a hunt with no practice or experience.
I also think one of the deciding factors is distance, 60 and 70 yard shots are becoming more and more common if you watch all the bowhunting shows. They would feel severely handicapped if they were limited to 20-25 yards and have to pass on a lot of monster bucks.

I didn't mean to knock compounds or those who hunt with them with my earlier comment.  Just trying to point out that the big commercial manufacturers aren't "seeing the light" about trad gear from a philosophical, add greater challenge to the hunt, perspective.  They see dollars in the marketplace and are going after them.  The hunting programs have pretty much become little more than stages from which to sell products, regardless of which weapon is used.  It's that association that trad archery could do without IMO.

"...bought a Darton 60MX."

That brings back memories!  I had some good hunts and good memories with one of those.  For the life of me, I can't remember what I did with that bow...

i must say that i am really impressed with people that shoot and hunt with trad gear.  i tried it this past winter and spring and i just could not get the hang of it.  so i went back to my wheelie bow.  i really understand what you all are talking about on here and really enjoy all the stories.  i have a really good friend that shoots trad and he doesn't hold it against me that i don't shoot trad and like wise.  bottom line we are all in this messed up world together with one big common thing in mind. ARCHERY!  that is what it is all about no matter what type of bow you shoot.  i personally have seen some of the shows that are mentioned in this thread where the hunter used the trad bow and i found it just awesome!  i love all aspects of bowhunting!  to me i have seen more and more guys trying to make the step over to the trad bow and the only thing they need is help and some intruction.  so the next time you see a guy out there struggling on the range or at a 3d shoot offer to give him some tips.  cause you never know you might just convert a wheelie shooter!  have a great day everybody and happy hunting.  Godspeed!

I understand what you're saying, but isn't that basically the same reason Fred Bear did his hunting shows and movies? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching them, and they're very entertaining, but they weren't exactly devoid of commercialism either.
