Finished another longbow!
« on: August 05, 2008, 05:17:00 AM »
Just finished another longbow.  This one is 66" and 49@28.  Osage riser with walnut front and back.  She has two tapered maple core lams and osage tips.  She's a great shooter as well!

Very nice.  Can you feel it flex as well?  Don't remember if your form has r/d or not.  Looks like it would be very well mannered.  Glue lines are excellent as is overall fit and finish.  Only constructive comment I could make is to consider a little more angle on your string grooves, such that the string lays straight at brace height.  If you increase the angle a little more at this point, you'll relieve an area for the string to travel without interference during the draw as well.  Love the color contrast, although time will tend to darken the osage.

Great looking bow. Your glue lines are getting better. Whats the 00208 on the bow mean? I know it's not your second bow this year.

Yes, I intend to change the angle on my string grooves.  I have been using 45 degrees, but see the need for a shallower angle on these longer bows.  I started serializing my bows when I started using fiberglass.  This is the second of this year.  Thanks for all the kind words.  I will be starting a "design consideration" thread shortly, so stay tuned.
