Anybody from Mississippi?
« on: August 06, 2008, 11:29:00 PM »
Hey all-
Just found out that my work is sending me to Gulfport MS the last week of August. I have never been to that area of the country. Anything to do during my down time?

I would go visit the Bow Shop on deadeaux rd. They have some incredible mounts in that place and some of the guy's are trad hunters.

If you like to gamble there are casinos in the area. Also the fishing is good. I don't know of any bow shops along the Gulf Coast but there should be some. You can google Biloxi, MS and Gulfport, MS and see what you come up with. I'm about 60 miles north in Hattiesburg.    Drew

Take a trip to New Orleans!  It's only an hour and 1/2 away at the most.

I am in north Ms. as well, I lived in south Luisiana for most of my life , could'nt drag me to New Orleans , the fishing along the coast is good and bowfishing is very good in the marsh. Not sure about Ms. but in the Louisiana waters redfish and flounder are legal with a bow.

Hey ya'll in MS.  Would someone there be kind enough to help me, if this product is still available.

I want to aquire a POD or two for my use in Bow Hunter ed course.  They were available in MS, but nowhere else.  Does anybody know of a source where I can call and get one or two, or do you have one or two available that I can buy from you ?

I'm way up in Union county, almost a yankee.

Chuck, I assume the pods are still available. There are, or were, several types, from balloons to hypodermics. I used them in another life, and killed a couple of deer using them. I haven't seen one in 30 years or more, but I'm sure they're still out there. The Anectine muscle relaxant is prescription only, and there are not as many "friendly" vets who will dispense it to bowhunters since a crackdown years ago. You might try a sporting goods store.

Thomas, i will take you up on the hogs and we do need to set up some kind of hog hunt for tradgangers in MS or whoever wants to go.  I have several places that are full of hogs in the delta and the farmers are begging folks to come shoot them.

Heat and humidity definately push the heat index up. We've already seen 103 - 106 degree heat index. Sticky heat, you'll love it.
