I was waiting for someone to say that but I've had deer down wind numerous times & not smell me....I go to the extreme with scent control & pay more attention to wind that most that's why I don't want something smelling up the woods if I can help it...

I'll bet you anything your willing to bet that if you get one and use it that within the first 10 minutes you'll swear you'll never be without one again!

For those wondering I used mine while catfishing one night and when I got home while unloading the truck I laid it in the bed of the truck and forgot it. That night the monsoon set in and mine got soaked.  Afraid that it was ruined I tried to see if it would work and unbelievably it fired right up.  It actually had water running out of it when I lit it.

Wouldn't leave to bowhunt without my ThermaCell...you can save some money when buying the butane replacements...Wally World sells cordless hair curlers that use the exact same butane/fuel replacements (they come in a nice purty pink package)...and they are definetly cheaper than the regular ThermaCell replacements...

4runner, you caused me to spit coffee. That's dang funny right there.

I got one and am just waiting for an excuse to fire it up. Lots of skeeters here this year (real wet in Iowa) and hunting seasons are close.

Is it effective if you are mobile, say stalking into the stand or do they just do their job when stationary for a while?

Worked great in the thick flies bear woods. I use two. I quietly click on the other one before the first runs out so I don't have to bother with all that moving around while changing canisters.

I've used mine in Northern Minnesota and Montana and it worked great.

The only issue I have with mine is it normally won't light if I have it in the carrying case.  Once it's lit it will stay running in the holder.  Weird.

I don't go into the early season deer woods without mine. Gonna have to buy another one for my son, hunting his first season this year.

I echo the "I'd rather leave my bow at home" remark!  Buy two if you are headed to the back country.  A back up is nice to have.  I wore my first one out in about 3 years.  The striker will eventually give out.  I bought one of the smaller compact units with out the striker.  You light it with another source of flame.  It doesn't stay lit as well as the original though.  Anyone know of an after market source for the matts?

Went hog hunting this morning.  Wouldn't have been able to hunt without my thermacell.  As the others have said, it's worth its weight in gold.
God Bless.

Can you use these while moving (stalking) or just in a stationary spot?

Best investment I've ever made.  There have been some times here in Florida it would have been nearly impossible to hunt without it.  I've had both deer and hogs under my tree without beeing spooked.   It has a detectable odor to humans, but apparently one that doesn't bother game.

Flyrite, I just came in from some target practice

It has rained about 10 inches over the last few weeks here, and the skeeters are thick..I had the Thermacell strapped to my leg, walking all over while shooting, not one bite in an hour....then I went out back to feed the dogs (after removing the Tcell) and got two bites...

I think they'd work for stalking....

One of those things that sound too good to be true, but they are the real deal.  Get a holster to hang it from your belt if you are still hunting swamps.

Does it get HOT when strapped to your leg? They work great and I was thinking of strapping mine to my leg while still hunting.  The Thermacell is a wise investment.
