The Talented Chris Sparks/ Lewis Hollow Bows[pics]
« on: August 10, 2008, 04:31:00 PM »
Howdy folks! Just came back from vacation in Santa Fee, N.M. I should have posted this before I left but was a little pressed for time.I just wanted to say that Chris Sparks made me a hec of a 3 pc Takedown Longbow.I figured I needed a "Travel Bow". Chris had sent me one of his try before you buy bows back in the early spring I believe. I was so impressed that I ordered one. It's a 62" bow 47#s@ 27"s on a 15" riser. I had to wait on the woods but the wait was worth it. He builds an amazing bow for sure.He is a truely talented craftsman. She shoots like crazy too. Smooth, fast and quiet. An amazing 3 piece Takedown Hybrid Longbow at a bargin price.

Thanks Dave! The  bow is actually featured on Chris's web site where the pictures came out alot better.Just click on   TD  Longbows. I must say also my Bud DEAN sent me a set of antler limb bolts for her. I'll have to put them on before hunting season. Thanks DEAN! Oh she's all grey actonwood and he cut the limb veneers edge grain I think they came out awesome.Blacky does a review in the Oct/Nov TBM. Chris should be getting busy real soon.

Joe Skipp, this one stays too. I'll let you shoot her next time we meet up Bud. Thanks bluegrass! He does an amazing job for sure. I can't believe the workmanship on the riser.I think I'll get another set of limbs for her in the near future.

Congrats on a fine looking bow. I own the prototype of that bow and want for nothing more. I am very fortunate to call Chris my friend. Your bow is one that I was really looking forward to seeing complete. I really like those limbs.
Enjoy that thing!

Wow,talk about natural camoflage.Don't put it down in the woods you might not find it again. What is the shortest bow that Chris makes for his takedown longbow. Sweet bow Tom.

Merf,You are a lucky man to call Chris a friend.Chris waited a long time to get the actionwood. It seems they only produce it when they get a large order or a certain time of year!!?? He asked me if I wanted the standard cut for the veneers or if he should try an edge grain cut. As you can see I told him edge grain. Boy am I happy with the way it came out. Thanks Mark, this is the shortest Chris makes I believe. 62,64,and a 66".My pictures don't do the bow justice. Chris took much better pictures for his web site.www.lewishollowarchery.com

Hey Tom,

Glad to see you made it back home from NM. Your new bow was a pleasure to shoot. I would be proud to own a bow like that.

Next bow: Gray ACtion wood all around... Can't think of a better pattern to blend in to the woods with..

Nice bow ...
