Whats your poison for this year? I've got my regular bow ,homemade hybrid,52@28" with 615 grn carbon.
  Tonite I started tunin a backup(which may go #1) ,another hybrid at 57#@28",712 grn carbon, both seem to shoot about the same trajectory to 30. This was my oldest sons bow,so if it shoots as well as my reg. bow,it may get the nod.

Both test bows,both fairly quick,should be good with either.
 Tell me what you plan to use,so we can all compare notes.......

T/D recurve of my design 58" 55# 28". The arrows were made by Joe Lorenzen, He made me a dozen all around 700 grn to 720 grns. This is my very frist Archery Bull hunt ever in Arizona. My back up is a Black Widow SAII 60" 53# 28" with 520 grn Goldtip traditional carbon arrows. These fly like darts out of this bow. Good luck on your hunt and I hope your sons bow works out for you, I know how much that will mean to you. I still need to send you the spalted maple to cut for me.

My elk medicine is a sweet shooting Black Widow PL III. Right around 57lbs at my 281/2 inch draw length. My arrows are 650 grains cedars, made by Milt Beens. Broadhead choice is a 160 grain Stos or Tusker single blades, haven't made the final decision on that one. I finally got my set up dialed in, only 11 days until the open of the best time of the year! T

Going after mule deer and antelope this year, but killed a bull elk last fall with a 58# Robertson longbow, 680 grain cedar arrow tipped with a 2-blade 160 STOS.  Really did a number on him.

I will hunting in T. Browning's backyard with a Black Widow PSA X Osage 67 @ 29.5" with 750 grain 2317's including big fat 285 grain Grizzly's.

Black Widow PL V 62# at my 27 and 3/4 draw. arrows are home assembled with Douglas fir shafts from Surewood and 160gr STOS and weigh at around 630gr

Same as usual.  My 55lb. 64" Bill Stewart MCTD.  Don't want to mess with a good thing.  The arrows will be Easton full metal jacket 400's with Muzzy Phantom 125gr. heads.  Now I just need to find a likely candidate to be on the recieving end of this.

68" 63LB@27 osage selfbow, Homemade ash shafts tipped with 190gr homemade tradepoint 680 total grains.

First outing for the shafts and broadheads was a pass-tru on doe antelope at 20yds

54 Lb @ 26" Toelke Whip, 2 Blade Magnus heads ground to a chisel point with weighted Carbon Express Heritage shafts for a total arrow weight of 640 grains.  Using the set-up that worked great last year.

For whitetails I will be using a 60" 56#@28" Osage selfbow this year.  I inherited the bow from my brother this past winter and like you, it has a lot of emotional significance.  This was the first selfbow he made when I was teaching him the basics of the craft in 2000.  I will spend a lot of time sitting in a stand staring at the bow and reliving memories this coming season.

62# @ 29" R/D longbow,  carbon arrows with 125gr. Grizzlies, white weight tubes and brass adapters. Total arrow wt. about 740 gr. I hadn't expected the arrows to be that heavy, but they shoot excellent.

Same prescription as usual with a couple small twists.

Super Shrew 67 pounds at 29.5" draw.  Carbon shaft 600 grain arrow.  Switched to a 4" parabolic 4 fletch from 3 fletch 5.5" high shield cuts, is noticeable quieter if that makes any difference.  Also switching from a 160 grain STOS to the old 150 grain large size Pearson Deadheads.  They fly good and look mean, should open up a big hole in whatever they hit.

50# Great Plains 1 piece rio bravo with Arrow Dynamics Trad Heavy carbons. I have 160 grain grizzlys mounted on 100 grain adapters. Arrow weight is 640 grains.

One of two bows, either my Liberty contender, 61@30 or my Martin Hunter, 59@31.  I actually shoot the Martin a little better, but like my Liberty more.  Both shoot the same arrows, carbon express terminators, with 275 grain grizzly el grandes up front.  Arrows weigh about 660 grains. Went out scouting yesterday for a few hours and found two brand new elk rubs, which got me quite excited.  Set up a game cam on the trail, hopefully will get a pic of whoever did the damage.  Season opens a week from saturday.

Elk Medicine????? 1st its a shower in one of several wallows left by Mr. Bull, 2nd its a coating of my favorite aftershave... I believe it's called CowYourIn, and last but not least it's a talk with Mr. SAII Widow he's about 54lbs and drives a GT3355 with a business partner named Magnus100. This is what I call Big Medicine  for Mr. Wapiti.
