Schafer Silvertip Help
«
on:
August 23, 2008, 06:40:00 PM »
I have a Silvertip recurve coming in about 2 months. I ordered it with the rosewood stained riser, I need your help on limb veneers. What goes good with the rosewood. I've also thought about changing it to the walnut riser and camo limbs? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Tom

Don't have a Silvertip but I have a Border longbow with Indonesian rosewood riser and rosewood veneers as well for the limbs. I prefer it to walnut myself but everyone has their tastes. Won't need any camo. Looks nice.

I had a charcoal riser with birdseye maple veneers. I liked the contrast and probably would get a contrasting wood if I was you too. I like the rosewood better than walnut and think that any figured and light colored wood would look great. Either way, I've never seen Dave make an ugly bow.

every silvertip I've owned had walnut dymondwood with camo limbs. I dont know what it is but thats the combo for me. probably because its the only combo I've seen the papa of the tips use.

My wood combos on my FF tips are Rosewood & Tulipwood, Rosewood & Juniper and Rosewood & Yew.
I also have a 56" FF tip (1 of 5 made) with a Walnut riser and camo limbs.

Yup it's was made for you. It's the best shooting Tip I've ever had. It would take a HUGE amount of $$ to tempt me into selling it.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and pictures.
That Rosewood and Capmhor burl looks amazing.
Man, this is tough. My due date is mid October and I'm already having trouble sleeping.
Thanks everyone,
Tom

Mine will have the Rosewood riser with stained to match limbs. I prefer the Rosewood over walnut because I like darker woods. Just personal preference. My last Schafer had a Bacote riser and bacote limbs, it was pretty sharp.
