Rattling field points?
«
on:

I'm making the switch from wood arrows to carbon arrows.
When I shot aluminum 15 years ago, the screw-in field points would come loose.
What do people do now with carbons? And what about broadheads?
Thanks for any suggestions.

sometimes I use the low strength loctite, but mostly I just smear some bowstringwax on the threads. Use the loctite sparingly and if one sticks warming the tip will take it off.

Could also use right wing feathers. They spin the arrow clockwise, screwing itself onto the threaded point adaptor. Left wing feathers rotate the arrow counter clockwise, tending to loosen the arrow from the point.

I go to the hardware store and get some lock washers that slide over the threaded ferrule and fit flush with the base of the broadhead, screw them in tight and forget it, will stay tight.

I wax the threads. I also have a bunch of tiny, thin bellville washers made for points that I have had like forever, and use on my broadheads. I have also used small "O" rings.

wheel bow shops sell little rubber washers to hold screw-in points tight.

Teflon tape, the kind you use for pipe thread. Cheap, easy tot ake off, waterproof so the poitns don't rust in tight.

dip them in candle wax, once you do it, you will have no issues..unless of course you hit something really hard.

Teflon tape. Wrap some on the threads, snug it tight with a pliers, and you'll forget that you HAD a problem. Wax is good, too, but I like the tape better.
