I live in Boswell, about 20 min east of Durant on Hwy 70.

Russell,

How are you related to Jimmy, Duane, Donald, Frank and the other Harrels? I guess I could ask one of them, but this is a handy way to find out. My brother lives in Milwaukie, OR, just south of Portland. It is a beautiful place, but I'm not leaving Oklahoma except to travel around. There is definitely some great deer and turkey hunting these days around Leedey.

I'm an Okie in the early 20th century form.  My parents came out from OK during/just after WW II.  Migrant farmers, my Mom grew up in a camp outside Bakersfield, and my Dad in it.  He worked much of his life in the oil fields.  When we'd visit family back in OK, we're called California prune pickers.  Out here in CA we're Okies and happy with it.

Allan,
Donald is my Uncle. My dad is Jack, the youngest brother of that bunch. So Jimmy, Duane, and Frank are my dad's cousins. If you talk to those guys much, Donald has had a rough turn in his health recently. If you ask 'em about me, they'll place me alot faster if you say Jack's son Russ or Russell...we have a big family    :)
You are right about the deer and turkey out there. I like the terrain out there because of all the little washout canyons and such.

I'm not from Oklahoma but I spent last weekend in Waynoka and even slipped over to Woodward for some lunch.

Different scenery than what I'm used to in N.E. Kansas. Played dodge the road killed Armadillo's on the motorcycle all weekend. Really pretty out west in OK.  bretto

Russell,

Thanks for letting me know your lineage. I knew that Donald had been having problems with his health. I also know it is not the first time it has happened to him. I hope and pray he regains his health. He and Lomas are a great couple. I don't know your dad Jack, except by name. I will be sure to ask about you when I talk to those in the Harrel clan. I talked to Frank not too long ago and am going to be hog hunting on one of his places this fall. He has lost a lot of weight and was sick too, but he seems to be doing okay at this point. I am a Harrel fan and think very highly of almost everyone in the family.
