Howard Hill longbows are EXPENSIVE............
« on: September 02, 2008, 03:25:00 PM »
On arrows, that is. I received a Hill bow in the mail today and after setting the brace and lowering the nocking point, went out back to shoot it. Here's the first 3 shots, from 18yds.

On the third shot, I heard that distinctive "crack" and saw a nock go flying. Here's the result.

This was without any real tuning, just a quick grab a few arrows and shoot it. Not to mention, it was one of my newer ash arrows. The bow is a Black Wolf, near as I can tell it's the only one like it. 62" long, 4 lams of lamboo, carbon backed, with a black glass belly and cocobolo riser and tips. Pulls right at 52# at my 26.5"

I think I'm going to like this one      :D        :D

That's why you only shoot'em one at a time with a Hill - It's much cheaper that way! Just think what would of happened if that awfull Hill handshock hadn't knocked you off target a bit! :^) Great shooting Kevin - looks like a keeper!

OUCH!!
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

That is a nice looking Hill. That's why I only shoot one at a  time. LOL  I'm really not that good.  Splitting arrows is one thing I wouldn't complain about.

Thanks guys (and gals, Killie     ;)   ) I'm pretty happy with it. You can see the arrow with the broken tip in the photo, that was from earlier in the morning with my Whisperstik. Found a soft spot on the bag and blew through, but it lost the fight with the pine behind the target. Still, I won't complain, well, not too much.

Mike, I got a buddy's new FMJ last week, now he pulls all of his before I get to shoot     :bigsmyl:

Bob,
 I've only had a couple of Hills and I think you're right. It does seem a bit smaller, but it fits me pretty well. I think I'll refer to this one when I have Craig build my dream bow, maybe just a smidge bigger than this one, but the same slight locator. It sure shoots, even with me doing the shooting.
