A few truly trad arrows
« on: September 05, 2008, 10:42:00 AM »
While I've got my aluminum arrows tipped with Snuffers ready to go, I wanted to make a few truly traditional arrows and hopefully take a deer with one of these.
Cane shafts, goose feathers, 2 homemade trade points & 1 stone point, given to me by Adeeden (thanks - I finally got around to making these).
My only hesitation is, the stone pointed arrow is so pretty, I hate to shoot it at anything.
They may not look like much, but they shoot and spin like bullets.

Steve, those look real traditional. Superb job. I'm trying a similar approach with some of my bamboo shafts.
Did you use anything to reinforce the nock and point ends other than the sinew wrap?
Hope mine fly as good as yours do.

Yes, I put about 2 inches of 1/4 inch oak dowel in both the nock and point ends.
The trade point arrows came out to near the same weight as my aluminum arrows, but the stone point, to my surprise, came out light on weight.
