Pronghorn Bows ( How do you like your's)?
« on: September 05, 2008, 08:11:00 PM »
I just picked up a Pronghorn T/D from a fellow Gang member, and can't wait to shoot it  :jumper:  .  This will be the first T/D Longbow I have ever shot, so how do those of you who have one like it?  I have heard nothing but good things about Pronghorn bows, and Herb.

Thanks,
Mike

Top Bows from a Top Bowyer. You'll be a happy man after you shoot it. Pronghorns are one of the only bows I've found that are truly forgiving with any way you choose to grip them.

I love mine. It's a three piece, and shoots like a dream. Not the fanciest bows around, but they are great shooters. The grip feels like it was made for your hand, and is very comfortable.

I have an Eagle's Flight quiver on mine, and you can hardly tell it's there.

You will be happy I bet!  I sure like mine.  It is a three piece  bow 59# @ 27".  I draw 29.  I think it is smooth all the way back.  When I do my part right it does it's part very well!  I bought second hand or third but when I called Herb to ask a question why you'd have thought I had just sent him a check!  He's a good man and IMO a great bowyer.

Traxx,  Sorry to hear you didn't find a lighter set of limbs...but I sure like your heavier ones.  Pronghorns are a sweet forgiving bow...Doc

You will love it. They are a great bow. As many have said before they are built buy a truly great man. I have had the pleasure of knowing herb since i was a little kid.  They are a forgiving fast and quit bow. I have a few bows from other great bowyers and still shoot my pronghorn.

Traxx I know that Herb quit taking orders for a while to catch up. He will be back up soon I am sure.

After breaking a bow last year during the season, I bought a takedown from Wyoming Chief on Tradgang. He shot well with just about any arrow I tried. I killed a spike with it the day after recieving it and two more deer laer on with it. It is the sweetest shooting bow I've ever owned.

In love with mine!  Absolutely stable, QUIET, fast and even forgiving in my amateur's hands.  Better handling and point-ability than most any bow I've tried.  Just like pointing a finger! Light, bulletproof...what can you say?  Amazing bows.

I shoot both a three piece and a one piece.
I'm more than pleased with mine. Wouldn't take nothing for my three piece.

I think I'll wander over to Herb's and see how he's faring.

3 piece-love it  my go-to stick
shot a big jack with it last week and it was sooooo pretty watching a cedar fly that nicely.  Agree grip seems unimportant to the bow, pull and shoot.

As stated earlier a wonderfully shooting bow from a very good guy indeed. He was extremely helpful with the multitude of questions I had before placing a final order. She performed well in Africa, check the avatar.

Pictures OK, I'll start off just as a tease.  My Pronghorns are working class bows kinda like Great Northerns.  Their looks don't normally  turn peoples heads...But they sure are forgiving and easy to hold on target.  Most of mine are spray painted hunting bows period!

Martha Stewart Turkey Pronghorn 56" 50#@28.  Small enough to maneuver easily and weight on low end of my comfort scale for less movement.  With gillie suite I'm actually sitting on the ground...still easy to shoot  :D   Doc

Don't get me wrong in thinking they aren't pretty bows.  As you can see I like 'em enough to have a back up to Martha  :)  Plus I leave one bow at our cottage in Maine...yep a Pronghorn!  Doc
