Whats up with wood?

I noticed since I am shooting hickory, they seem to ba a little more " tolerent" of tuning issues. I was impressed on how well my broadheads shoot, and seemed a little easier to tune then my alluminums. I shoot a Black Widow  longbow58@28 , With tapered Hickorys cut to 29" with a 160 tip. 785 gr total weight. Is it me or is wood shafts a little easier  :confused:

they seem to make less noise.i think the overall weight helps.i like mine for hunting.they really penetrate good.

I love woodies, ash or hickory.

Lately, ash seems the best all around shaft, with a close second with hickory.

Are  your aluminums as heavy as the hickorys?

I like wood and have no interest in non organic arrows.

No, My alluminums weigh 550 Gr. I use a 54lb recurve with them

One of the reasons is the tapered arrow, this puts more of the weight front of center, and allows the arrow to recover from paradox quicker. Another reason is that the ash arrow is much heavier, which uses more energy to move the arrow forward thus quieting and smoothing out the bow

Heck OL carbon used to be wood, cant beat a good tapered carbon either. Tapered is the key word.

Cell by cell, wood is built up as it grows into a perfect matrix for making arrows. The properties necessary for a seedling to survive to tree status are the same attributes that wood contributes to arrows. Seedlings and arrows must be able to withstand relatively extreme forces, nature's fury for the seedling, the sudden press of a bowstring for the arrow.

Archery would have never developed without those unique properties of wood. Arrows from other material are merely man's attempt to recreate nature's perfection.

Besides that, the extra weight helps.

Yeah Frasettor thats what I meant Hickory , but the key word I was trying to get across was the tapered aspect, more weight forward.
Yeah Don that does play a part in making a good wood arrow verses a bad one , good wood.
But physics plays just as important an aspect as good material. Tie a string to a rock and throw the rock , what does the string do? follow the rock , weight forward of center does make a difference as well as a tree that has survived the elements.
