am I the only one with this problem?

I am a new member to this forum but have been shooting traditional for a couple year now. I shoot a howatt hunter 46#@28 and pull about 29" this bow loves 2016 shafts but decided to try carbons.I have the vapor 3000 carbonwoods and no matter what arrow or bow combination I use I just cannot get true arrow flight.not only do I impact in different spot but flight is very irratic. I really want to use the carbons for their durability but I am loosing faith. Am I the only one who has had this problem? HELP!!  THANKS BRIAN

you just got to get them tuned right.

give all your bow  specs, arrow length, point weight etc and someone will be able to help you out

How do they bareshaft?
3000 CW's are way overspined for 49# unless left long with LOTS of point wght.

Many people have trouble when switching to carbons.No problem with the carbons but some make bad selections because of things like weight,looks ect.If you are shooting 2016s then you need a carbon in the 500 spine range.You buy every other arrow by spine and the same truth holds for carbons.You would not have a bow that shoots 50lb spine wood arrows and expect 100lb spine wood arrows to fly the same just because they were a different color.Some do when buying carbon arrows.

A 2016 has a static spine if .531 and a Carbonwood 3000 has a spine of .400,they are quite a bit stiffer.You need to tune them to your bow,a Carbonwood or Vapor 2000 might be a better fit.But start out at full length and shoot and trim or add weight until you get the right dynamic spine for your bow.Carbons do not come in as many different spines as wood or aluminum,they need to be tuned to your bow.I believe alot of guys get disappointed with carbons until you get one that fits your bow.

I SHOOT A SIMILAR SETUP AND THE vAPOR 2000 OR THE GOLD TIP 3555 ARE THE PROPER SPINE.

Do you have access to a spine tester?
I recently received 2 dozen Carbonwood Vapor 4000 shafts and a dozen Vapor 2000. They varied considerably in spine.  A dozen of the 4000's spined about the same but slightly less tha gt 55/75s, eleven about like 35/55s, and one,which weighed 45 grs heavier than the others spined like a 75/95. The stiffer and weaker spines were intermingled in the dozen lots. The 2000s were more consistent with one being quite a bit stiffer. In fact several of the 4000s spined weaker than some of the 2000s.
I seperated them into different groups and fortunately have bows to accommodate them.

thanks for the replies and I do beleive they are overspined.shooting full length 100 gr. insert and 145 gr. tip. I have sold arrows and will experiment with a weaker shaft. THANKS AGAIN BRIAN

James has it right! Your Howatt is most likely very close to 50#s at your draw(give or take a #)So if ya take a .500 spined carbon and cut it to 30"s and shoot 150-175 grains point weight I bet you will be very close if not balls on! Shawn

Personally, I love the fact that people are moving to carbons, all those lovely preloved alloys going cheap........bargain!

I shoot 3 different bows in the 46#-#48 range, all shoot vapor 2000,29", with 150 grain heads really well. Make sure brace height is correct, and all other variables. Like he said above, spine is probably too stiff.
